I answered it with what I thought a Mayo education would provide that no other highly ranked school would provide. Basically a "why Mayo" with a little bit of a "yes Mayo, you're one of a kind" to pander to that part of the prompt. For this school's secondary, did people go out of their way to SPECIFICALLY ANSWER THE

Late January/early FebruaryDo you know when they will release decisions for this cycle?
I definitely did this, but only because I was being honest. If I had acceptances to any other school, I really would still choose Mayo, because their mission—basically, what Mayo "stands for"—truly aligns with my interests and where I see myself in the future. I tried to make it such that any person reading could readily tell that Mayo was not only "one of" my top choice, but the top choice, above all; now I didn't go naming other schools, but it was clear. For this school's secondary, did people go out of their way to SPECIFICALLY ANSWER THE

I'm sitting on an II from here thankfully (on hold at AZ), and obviously that's not the only reason, but given that they have such a small class size, I really think they emphasize "fit" and select people who truly embody/identify with their mission.
So my advice: if it really is your top choice, and if you really would go there over any other medical school, say it. Be honest, and you'll write something compelling.
No problem! I think it's more of a very strong suggestion, such that if you wait too long it'll look like you're uninterested. However, if you have an already compelling application, then I am sure they're not going to ding you too hard. Thanks for the reply! Another question I have is if anyone has gotten an II after submitting outside of the 2wk requirement...traveling back and forth between countries prevented me from doing so.

I got an interview to AZ and I submitted on day 15, so it's not a cut and dry hard limit. Thanks for the reply! Another question I have is if anyone has gotten an II after submitting outside of the 2wk requirement...traveling back and forth between countries prevented me from doing so.

Does anyone know if Mayo offers financial aid to Canadians? Couldn't find info on this anywhere on their site.
Thanks for the info!!They do! Visited campus recently and somebody asked this question. They give same financial aid consideration to Canadians as to US citizens
There was a bloodbath day earlier in the month. A lot of rejections/holds sent out for both Mayo campuses.Have many rejections been sent or has it been predominately IIs?
Yep. Essentially wrote a love letter/letter of intent pouring out my heart as why I love Mayo. Since its my top choice and the chances of me getting a interview/accepted are slim to none, I figured I might as well go all out.For this school's secondary, did people go out of their way to SPECIFICALLY ANSWER THE

I feel for you. Complete since 7/18. At this point, I just hope the rejection comes quick. Mayo, please don't reject, unreject then re-reject on the last week of interviews like last yearI'm honestly getting more and more worried as the days go by. Been complete since 8/15. I've wanted this for so long and I would literally give anything to come here. Then again, it seems like we all would. Trying my best to keep my head up
That's what I did, and I still got rejected from the AZ campus. I hope you fare better than meYep. Essentially wrote a love letter/letter of intent pouring out my heart as why I love Mayo. Last year, I think it was either the last or second to last week of January. Only knew because people were posting the interview dates available for scheduling.when is the last week of interviews At mayo? and how can do you know ?

Interviews will last until mid December. If they have more applicants they wish to interview, they will open up several more days into mid January. (I know because I’m a student here)when is the last week of interviews At mayo? and how can do you know ?
Would you happen to know if they're receptive to "in the area emails" before a post-secondary decision?Interviews will last until mid December. If they have more applicants they wish to interview, they will open up several more days into mid January. (I know because I’m a student here)

II earlier today! Complete 8/13.
I did, but from what I've heard, it's not a huge deal if you're a bit outside the suggested window. It's definitely not a hard cut-off.Did you submit within the 2 weeks they recommended?
Curious, bc I submitted a bit out
Stats?II just now complete 8/1

Can I ask what people like the most about this school? I was fortunate enough to get an II, but honestly this was not a school I considered one of my top choices. I just thought it would be a school I'd be competitive at.
It seems some people have this school ranked higher on their list than even some Top 10s! Just curious what people like the most and why it appeals so much to you all.

Where to even begin...Can I ask what people like the most about this school? I was fortunate enough to get an II, but honestly this was not a school I considered one of my top choices. I just thought it would be a school I'd be competitive at.

Where to even begin...
-Very good student benefits (free computer, full health insurance, free parking)
-Generous financial aid (on average students have less than 70K debt)
-Very high faculty to student ratio (lots of possibilities for shadowing and research)
-Selectives after every block (go anywhere, do anything fully funded as long as it relates to medicine)
-Plethora of research opportunities and output (just flip through NEJM)
-High step 1 average (low/mid 240s)
-Very good match rate (remember reading that >90% of students match at their top 3)
-Small tight knit class
-Multiple campuses to rotate at
-MD lecturers
-Dedicated step and research time
-Very major emphasis on student wellness
And that’s ignoring the fact that its Mayo! While I haven’t been a patient there, I have only heard great things about how kind and welcoming the staff is as they work together as a interdisciplinary team. For me, it really is as close to a perfect school (minus the weather) and I can only dream of receiving a II there.
^^^^ What they said.
On top of all that, the Mayo Clinic appears to genuinely believe and support the pursuit of quality, ethical, and responsible medicine while placing less focus on the monetary aspects (which, as I understand it, they are able to do more easily than other institutions because they are a closed system). This school is my dream school for a lot of reasons, but the top reason is that they seem to be one of the last vestiges of medicine, in our screwed up health care system, more focused on patient outcomes than on profits.
