Elizabeth Raine Auction

Should "Elizabeth Raine" be dismissed from medical school for selling her virginity?

You do know there are gigolos out there? Some aren't even particularly special.

I was trying to think of someone I'd pay money to sleep with...but I'm coming up with zilch. Weird how some of us don't find it even mildly arousing to be with someone who doesn't voluntarily desire it.

My instinct is that you're correct and she's made herself look like a poorly calculating flake with major emotional/boundary intelligence deficits. And yet...most of us have no idea what's actually taking place in her ground reality (stupid as she looks to us).

That's cuz you haven't met me yet.

Sup.

Yes.

I also have a devout christian and Jewish professor who also have similar views.
Oh yea? Do they randomly place their views in conversations as you have in this thread?

"And that's the clinical manifestation of Von Gierke Disease". "

"And in some cases excessive porn viewing"

I guess you are right about the bolded part.

I assume the camp in which you belong isn't that vocal or have that many members, otherwise people like you would have been able to counter the school of thought which have been against pornography. I don't see your major representation in mainstream news outlets. I guess I should take you as a minority and an offshoot to mainstream feminism.
How women feel and what they are able to openly say in public are often very different things in a sexually repressed society.

Yeah, devout people in general tend to ignore the reality of the real world. Nothing wrong with religion, but not acknowledging that things aren't black and white is part of the problem that devout people have.

That is not right, pal. The people I am talking about are not dumb. They attained highest level of education, are serving since 15-20 years in med school and on top of that , they interact with numerous patients each day. They surely know what is going on in the real world.

Spending your entire life in school, can't get any realer than that.

This guy attained the "highest" level of education, though I don't know that he exactly knows what's going on in the real world...

Nothing exposes you to the real world harder than 15-20 years of academic circle jerking and ass kissing.

More LOLs were had at being in school = being informed. Couldn't be further from the truth. Are you really in medical school ? How do you talk to patients, do you walk away from every encounter and be like , " silly sinner, you should have paid more attention to the bible ?"

Why are you guys assuming that they don't know what is happening in real world ? Just because they have spent years in med school teaching ?That is a poor justification man. They have lives outside of their profession.

I follow the guidelines given to me in my behavioral science lectures and in BRS behavioral sciences. Sometimes I use kaplan videos too. So you have your answer now.

Article states: And she is not interested in losing her virginity to another woman, no matter how financially lucrative the bid might be.

Elisabeth Raine: "I'm straight. That would be out of my comfort zone," she said.

Pregnantly pudgy, old, balding with floppy disproportinately shaped penis...all good. But another woman? That's so...icky. This chick is borderline ******ed.

Amazing to me people on SDN who believe that one has an accurate view of the way the world works from being a premed since birth. No wonder schools are now wanting people with actual life and work experience after college.

Don't be sexist. Any woman that won could have been (and likely would have been) equally as disgusting as any guy that would have won.

Perhaps, but having sex with another woman is considerably less risky. And probably less painful. It does seem kind of silly to put that limit on things, and not others. But hey, I'm not the one selling my v card, gave that shet away for free a long time ago.

Maybe she saw the size of some of those toys when she went to buy her lingerie for the photo shoot and decided she better just take care of that preemptively. Figured any guy that needed to bid enormous amounts of money to pop her cherry wouldn't give her that kind of problem.

This is getting disrespectful now.

I don't mean it to be , it's just that it's ironic to me how the whole doctoring classes work. It's trying to teach students how to communicate, by reinforcing the very thing that is responsible for them being deficient at communicating(memorizing a bunch of notes or a study guide and then having a multiple choice exam).

You're kind of missing the point. She has now made it so even the most attractive woman is still less in her "comfort zone" than the hordes of heinous men who can line up for her auction. In fact, I would have zero issue if her standards were a bit higher but...seriously, that's where she's gonna draw the line?

I'm straight (but I'm also - uhh...we need a term for those who have zero sexual attraction to those who look like ass?). Between Ron Jeremy/random other fat old man and the choice of Miss Universe, this MD/Phd is just far more in her comfort zone with...ya know.

"Hello Ms. Raine, you're selling your hole for money...let's get a little more pragmatic here".

I think we have all established that her thought process is dubious at best. I see your point here.

Although I don't agree with what she did and think it shows somewhat of a lack of judgement, I do think it's wrong that a news organization outed her true identity. She wasn't doing anything criminal (AFAIK, the auction was not held in the U.S. - dont know the legality of that...)or hurting anyone. I do wonder about why she advertised herself as a U.S.med student though, given the the medical community is a relatively small community. Anyway, if she is a good, hard working student and has otherwise not caused any trouble or had any other problems, I would be inclined to give her a second chance. Just my opinion,

What if someone masturbates to something innocuous.

Like climaxing in the library's study room in junior year while whispering for Gregor Mendel to "please cross-breed me with a purple pea plant"?

The very fact that she advertised herself as a med student primes the situation for attacks from those in the medical community. Why is she even creating such an association...medical school...girls who sell their bodies. Lovely.

And if we're going to be honest, the moment she put her photo on the internet with all the other details...she outed herself. The layers of stupid are almost difficult to believe.

At her ripe age of 28, you almost wonder if there is a mental deficit that will lead to poor decision making skills.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. In terms of her ultimate fate, perhaps it was "wrong" for the news to publish her dox, but on the flip side, one could say it was wrong for her to be so naive as to think she could reveal her face to the public and think she wouldn't be outed to the dismay of her university, her family, herself, etc.

Only goes to show that book smarts aren't the only things that define intelligence.

I never would have predicted this thread would have turned out like this.

What responsibility does a journalist or a publication have to keep her identity confidential?

I would argue none; unless they agreed to interview her under terms of confidentiality (like the huffing ton post did)
