It’s possible. I know of someone from the last cycle that was in the very last round of interviews and got an acceptance the first round of emails. I wonder when the emails will go out today.

Well last year they released it at 5:32 PST. Hope it’s not that late today lol

At the in-person visit day, they said not to expect anything until the end of the business day.

OOS decisions are released February 15 with all update letters needing to be submitted in January. Pretty confident...
So if we live OOS but had IS preference does that count as OOS or IS in terms of decisions🤔

Can’t tell if they just haven’t sent A’s yet or if those of us who haven’t heard back aren’t in this batch. Can anyone who received R, WL, or A state what day you interviewed?

Apparently 2 years ago they didn’t send A’s until the following morning. So maybe they’re behind again? Or just no one who got an A uses this thread. All I know is that I am going CRAZY

I really hope so…. This whole process is so daunting😔 Best of luck

Ok so I just saw on the Reddit application tracker document that someone did indeed get accepted today. They interviewed 9/30/2021 at 3:29 PST. So I guess we didn’t make it in the first batch guys. See y’all back here in a month -_-

Here’s the link. The tab w outcomes is at the bottom then scroll down to todays date

I got an A today. Incredibly grateful and over the moon. I was an early decision applicant that was deferred so I interviewed a while ago. Good luck to everyone! I hope we become classmates!

Maybe they will send out more notifications tomorrow?

What makes you say that? I'm not sure if they're only sending out decisions on the 15th of each month or simply just around that time. Fingers crossed

Edit: On the website it says " All other decision notifications, including waitlist notifications, are sent monthly via email on or near December 15, January 15, February 15 and March 15. " Perhaps there's a chance we hear back these next few days?

I personally think that phrasing is used to be flexible when the 15th falls on a weekend (because January 15th is on a Saturday this year and told us we’d be hearing on the 14th). Or maybe I’m just trying not to get my hopes up again haha.

I see, that actually makes more sense. Thanks for clarifying!

Hello Everyone, sorry about the late response! Unfortunately this month's decision announcement date fell right before our block 8 final, so I didn't have the time to be here on the 15th.

Congrats to all those who received acceptances! For those that didn't, please try not to get discouraged. Many students (including myself) had to apply more than one cycle. Just remember to always be thinking of how you can improve your application for next cycle.

I wanted to clarify a few points brought up in the forum:

  • In an effort to not needlessly drag applicants along, this year we've decided to send out acceptances, waitlist notifications, and rejections on the 15th of every month December - March. In previous years, we've sent out more acceptances earlier on, with more rejections and waitlist notifications in the later months (often into April). The only exception to this is that rejection notices can be sent out at any time.
  • This upcoming January, since the 15th is on a Saturday, all notifications will be sent out on Friday the 14th.
  • I know that everyone wants to figure out when they can expect to hear back, but there's just no way to correlate when you interviewed to when you can expect a decision. UNR Med does not do rolling admissions, meaning that we wait to compile all of our interviewed applicants into one big list (ranked with a metric based on the factors the committee is looking for--sorry I can't be any more specific than that!) before anybody is accepted. Then, we move down that list performing a holistic review of each and every applicant. There are separate lists for in-state and OOS applicants. The only exception to this is the Early Decision Program (EDP) applicants, who interview before anybody else and get their official decisions in October.
  • Out of state applicants can expect to hear back at the earliest in January, but more likely in February.
I hope this helps to answer some of the most often asked questions on the forum. It's my goal to eliminate any speculation and keep things as transparent for all of you as I can. As always, you're more than welcome to reach out to me in the forum or via the private messages on here and I'll do my best to get back to you as quickly as I can. Happy Holidays and best of luck to all!

Hope your block 8 final went well!
By some miracle, it did! 😅🥲 Thanks!

It's amazing how uncomfortable and scared and psyched out you can feel going into a test (and even during), only to come out and be okay haha. Medical school is one heck of a mental and emotional roller coaster. One could describe it as the kind of roller coaster that gets shut down after a few years of being open to the public because it gives people heart attacks or they get injured or worse while riding it 😬

Shameless plug for seeing a mental health professional (counselor, therapist, or psychiatrist) while in medical school and residency (and beyond). The majority of my class sees somebody and the rest need to. I think one of the best things about UNR Med's culture and our faculty is the fact that people are open about seeing somebody and getting help to deal with all the stress that comes along with medical training. It's mentally and emotionally the most difficult thing I've ever done, and I definitely have it easier than a lot of my classmates. Don't ever be afraid to reach out to your faculty and learning specialists for mental health resources. And wherever you end up going to school, please be sure to ask about these kind of resources for students, and what the culture regarding mental health is around the school. Always look after one another and yourself.

Okay, off my little soap box for the afternoon! I hope everyone is enjoying winter break as much as I am! If anyone is interested, I've been really fortunate to have made some connections with local docs and have been shadowing/precepting both with the trauma surgery team and in the emergency department a few times over break. Just another reason why UNR Med (or any small school) is awesome 😉

I got a W 12/16. Does anyone know the date of which we are able to get info on our placement?

I do!

So it'll take a little while since we're still sending out decisions, but starting May 3rd, waitlisted applicants will be able to email the admissions office to get their waitlist position and total waitlist number (ex: #4/37). Those who are initially waitlisted and are ranked at the top of the waitlist may get surprise emails with acceptance offers as early as late April, but usually this really happens in May as applicants decline their offers and chose to attend other schools. All waitlisted applicants should've received an email that breaks this down and explains the timeline of events.

As a reminder, no new application material (a new publication, grade improvement, letter of intent, etc) will be accepted, as it will not influence your current ranking.

I also want to remind everyone that our next round of decisions will be sent out this Friday, January 14th! Time to get excited!

Finally, for those who aren't accepted to UNR or any other school this cycle, we are planning some re-applicant workshops for this spring. I'll be sure to update you all as this nears.

Best of luck to everyone still waiting to hear back, and remember that no news is still good news! Feel free to reach out to me (or email the office) for any questions.

That’s what I thought too. Also do you know if all decisions in todays batch are done being sent out yet? @UNR Admissions Rep
Congrats to those who've already gotten A's today!

I do not know how many decisions are being sent out today, nor do I know where they are in the process of doing so. Sorry! I do know that it usually takes them a few hours though. Hang in there!
