I called in, and the officer said they're not supposed to give out responses by phone. So I don't know the validity of those who called in and got their decision...
Depends on who you get on the phone. The numerous people on here who said they called aren't all liars...
Yeah, maybe. Or maybe our assumption that their disclosure policy has stayed the same over the past couple of months is false, and they recently made it a rule not to disclose the information. Doesn't really change my situation though.

lol. you must have gotten the woman on the phone and not Ian. I called, and a woman picked up. when i asked her if i could have my status, she told me she is not allowed to disclose that information. then i told her that i wasn't in state and would be unable to get my mail for over a week....and then she gave me my status lol.
Bleghhh. I wonder why they don't update the final decision on the status page >_<. Too much suspense.

basically
because in order to come off the hold list every single person (anywhere from 150-300 kids) have to come off the WL. They wont touch the hold list till the WL is exhausted. The chances of every single person getting in off the WL are absolutely zero. Maybe < zero.
Oooooh yeah that makes sense then. Hopefully my letter won't be a hold.

I have a 1 br/1 bth rm. appt at 10982 Roebling Avenue that I'm looking to rent. Here is the web site of the building. It's quiet close to UCLA. (1-2 Blocks)

another option would be to live south of wilshire or in brentwood/santa monica. it's a bit of a commute, but i doubt you'd like the clamor of the undergraduate apartment area. if it were up to me, i'd live on tiverton or hilgard. you pay for the convenience and location. you can literally wake up 10 minutes before class and walk yourself there on time...Anyone who is seeking a roommate in the fall?

And to Kaiv - there's no mistake. It took me forever to get my letter. Maybe the letter sent date is just the day they print out the letter and it takes some time to actually throw it in the mail? In any case, waiting a week or more is not unusual.

i'm in your shoes, man. and i live 15 minutes WALKING distance from the admissions office. wtf. i wish i could've just picked it up...i'm going to speak to admissions tomorrow...Man, I received the 4/30 "letter sent" update and still haven't received the letter more than a week later. I only live an hour away from UCLA....I wonder if there's some sort of mistake?!

i stand corrected by mini i guess. Ive only talked to one student here, hes graduated already but he said was telling me not to count on it.

Also any idea if UCLA overaccepts and by how much and do they do the whole replacement thing with those who withdraw. Meaning like what was said above where if a white OOS male who is an engineering major withdrawals they look for someone similar?

Also any idea if UCLA overaccepts and by how much and do they do the whole replacement thing with those who withdraw. Meaning like what was said above where if a white OOS male who is an engineering major withdrawals they look for someone similar?
I'm obviously not an expert on admissions stuff, but A LOT of classmates came from the waitlist. Many that I talked to came off the waitlist very late (way after May 15). I have heard that UCLA does not overaccepts but I have no idea if this is correct. Sorry I don't have more information :=(

I am an OOS student and I will be applying for OOS tuition right after this block ends. It is fairly basic and easy to obtain. You must do stuff like: Change drivers license and license plate, change all official addresses, register to vote, pay state taxes and I think that's about it. Everyone gets in-state tuition after the first year unless you neglect to do what they tell you. You save 12,500 a year
. I live on campus in Weyburn Terrace and i highly recommend it for first year as almost everyone lives here and your social network will revolve around Weyburn Terrace. People who go off campus are able to find larger places for cheaper than what we pay here, but I personally wouldn't recommend it as I think you lose quite a bit of camraderie. If you decide you'd like to go off campus, try looking for places south of Wilshire Boulevard in the culver city-ish area, which tends to be cheaper. Generally things get more expensive as you move north in west LA, and everything north of UCLA across Sunset Boulevard is multimillion dollar craziness in Bel Air. Keep in mind that you will still have to pay for a parking pass on campus unless you decide to take the bus and the pass is fairly pricey (like 500 i think). Also keep in mind that utilities are included in the price of Weyburn Terrace. Parking, however is not. Good luck!- Joined

Hey guys,
I was in your same sitation last year, and managed to get into UCLA so I thought I would offer my advice for those still trying to get in. UCLA was hands-down, 100% always my first choice. I interviewed mid-February and didn't hear ANYTHING until June 5th (my birthday actually!). By that point, I was basically on the verge of a breakdown everytime someone would get a status change so I totally understand what most of you are going through!
At this point in the cycle, I feel that the school has already accepted the applicants they consider to be the most competitive. Towards the end of the cycle, they begin to accept people that are no less competitive, but they feel would definitely go to UCLA if accepted.
My advice to you is that if you are 1000% sure that this is the school for you, MAKE SURE THEY KNOW and remind them (not annoyingly). I sent in a letter or interest and a letter or intent. Then i called about every 2-3 weeks to check on my application (politely). Finally, they connected me to speak to the director of admissions. I straight up told her that this is the school to which I belong and and that I want my degree from no other institution. She took down my application ID. I got in 4 days later.
I know that this is not the case with every applicant, but if I have learned anything from this process, it is to not be shy about letting the admissions office know how much you want this! Especially towards the end of the cycle, everyone on the WL is competitive so they want to accept people that REALLY WANT to go there.
As for the WL, there are many people in my class who got off the waitlist (probably 20-30) so dont give up. It's not over till it's over. Anyway..thats my two cents

well thats what im planning to do lol. If UCLA takes me im 100% coming here no matter what end of story. Now i just need to come off the WL
I guess my only questions would really deal with the WL. other students on here have said theres good movement, no idea what constitutes good but regardless, does most of the movement occur quickly after may 15th? Or is it kinda a slow trickle throughout the next few months up until july?

Thanks for the info . Though I think you just inspired the several hundred kids on the wl to call on Monday haha. Here's to good movement everyone. If a good 30 or so come off the wl I'm guessing near 40-50 kids migh get off. So just for the sake of argument it would seem about 50/200 or so kids come off the wl I'd hope. I'm goin to go crazy waiting
