@Dentist2020
I understand your situation because I've experienced a number of rejections after IV. I know any kind of comments would not be easy to encourage you, but I wish you would stand up again and struggle for your future. This painful experience would be a good foundation for you to become more competent candidate of Advanced Standing Program of many kinds of dental schools.
From my experience of UC Denver I.V, it was good, nice faculty members and good students there. Everyone said that their interview was good, which seem to be confident about themselves, but I thought this was somewhat ridiculous. Because interview is the interview. I mean that even though all of the candidates think to themselves they did very well and enjoyed the moments, but they must be ranked from the 1st place to the last one by score under rigid rule which interviewers precalibrated. The thing is that you have to be outstanding from many candidates regardless of specific mode of a dental school during interview. I'm sure you've already known this fact.
I have 17 years experience as a dentist and specializing prothodontics and implant, teaching experience for junior residents, and still doing my job in my country. I mention about myself because I want to point out that our dental skills especially for bench exam is very subjective, which I've got to know while I was teaching students and residents. Dentist2020, I think you must have done very well on your bench exam. But the score could be somewhat under in the eyes of evaluator. This is true because even when I evaluate my tooth preparation tomorrow, I usually find some flaws, much more from other person. Have you ever evaluated your works comparing with textbook pictures?
Of course, I would like to recommend you to remember there are numerous candidates who are struggling, trying to have their superior clinical skills in every respects.
I think I'm not in position to teach someone, but if you need tips or advices I'm willing to give my hands as a senior who is on the same boat to further our career in the U.S as a competent dentist. I sincerely hope you don't think I'm arrogant. Cheer up, buddy!
The whole process at UOC sucks.....
- First, did they follow a standard process in selecting & informing candidates abt their staus?? What an excruciating pain to wait for such a long time? Did they ever thought of their children going through such pain?? No...that's why they were sloppy in thier responses.
-Candidates with excellent credentials got rejected. They should not have invited too many students to the interview when they cannot offer a position.
-Any ways .. ..candidates who did a good job in the bench test, and the interview with excellent scores, but not got accepted, forget about this school. There must be a much better one waiting for you. Not sure about their variety of factors they are looking for .... but to my astonishment I came to know that a candidate even though the bench test was incomplete, infact it was worst, got accepted. That means there is no fairness in the process.
I will never ever look back at this school..
