I AM SO F'N HAPPY. I seriously thought I bombed that test! The PS was SO HARD and verbal was HORRIBLE but apparantly something happened and it all turned out alright!

YAY! I might be able to get into a US school now!!! MWAHAHAHAHA.

Anybody retaking?? If so, when are you doing it???? I'm thinking about July 2....I need to raise my score by 1 point in every section to hit a 30. Anyone else thinking of doing the same thing?

here we go.. i was scared of this:

AAMC avg 32
Kaplan avg 32

old mcat 23P (VR4/PS10/BS9)

may 2nd mcat 28R (VR6/PS11/BS11)

apparently i can write but i cant read, i was really hoping to hit my avg and get over 30 but verbal screwed me once again!! no re-taking for me!!

long time lurker, first time poster.

AAMC practice tests (my TPR tests were much lower and i didn't bother to take the last few)

#3: 32 total, 10PS, 10V, 12B, didn't get the essays scored, taken on 1/10/09
#4: 34 total, 11PS, 10V, 13B, again, essays not scored, taken on 2/28/09
#5: 33 total, 10PS, 12V, 11B, no essays scored, taken on 3/14/09
#6: 36S total, 11PS, 13V, 12B, taken on 4/14/09
#7: 38R total, 13PS, 13V, 12B, taken on 4/22/09
#8: 37S total, 12PS, 11V, 14B, taken on 4/26/09
#9: 36Q total, 12PS, 11V, 13B, taken on 4/28/09
#10: 40S total, 14PS, 11V, 15B, taken on 4/30/09

My ACTUAL score: 40S, 14PS, 11V, 15B EXACT same breakdown as AAMC #10. I guess everything I heard about the last few AAMC tests being best predictors was right.

My score is all the more amazing considering that I had a recurring pinched nerve in my neck that meant I couldn't study from mid january until mid march because I was in so much pain I couldn't sit up for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. But I did have extra time after that because I was laid off from my job in Dec, so I was able to make up the lost time due to my injury. I'll post more the the +30 thread. I'm just relieved because I'm a NT and I know how much lower of a chance we have of getting in, so every little bit helps my application.

this forum is soon going to explode :D

lets start predicting our score i am thinking PS 10-12/ VR 6-8/ BS 10-12

i can pretty much bet on it..

if i get any lower i will shoot myself and anything higher i will jump for joyyyy

ahh i cant wait for nxt tuesday..

Right on with my prediction!! but i still feel like shooting myself for verbal :(

u also took june 13th last year?!!! we're mcat twins and i also improved 5 pts from then ahhh not enough..

omg, that is so cool!!!
hey, i know you are a little disappointed, i am too, but i am still happy that i got 9 on ps when i practically guessed on half of them yay and i got 13 on bs, who would have expected????
well, anyways, i am going for the third time, hopefully i can raise my verbal...i am excited

I was at work when the score came out, so I had my boyfriend check my score then text to me. I kinda pushed the stress on to him.. haha...

At first I thought I got a 0 on writing.. lol.
15 on BS is like.. wow how did that happen. 10 on verbal is the ideal for me, can't imagine anything better. 12 on PS is just in line with my avg aamc practice so no complains.

Party time~

i got a 15 too on BS. I thought that was impossible because I missed some ochem questions for sure.

I pretty sure i missed some questions too, but sometimes you can still get 15 if you missed a couple questions.

Oh well. I know VanBrown got 15 on BS as well. *high five*

Finally, what a relief.

So, 39T, seems awesome right? No, I am actually completely screwed. I am a Canadian, and the cut-off for the BS section is 11 at one of the two schools that strongly use the MCAT (the other has a 9, but I digress). This means that I will not get an interview at this school, unless I re-write. My chances at other schools are pretty much shot as they are extremely GPA heavy.

I have no idea how that happened in BS. It was easily the section I was most confident about. EASILY. Ugh. I guess I will be re-writing in August (earliest date I could get, and I want to make SURE this time).

It's times like these where I wish swapping MCAT scores was possible. I would gladly flip my score to an American for a 11 BS, 10 VR, 9 PS and R.

Yes yes yes! You can go with a 29. Your improvement is SIGNIFICANT. I'd apply this year (early, of course) and see what happens. Only retake if absolutely necessary.

damn everyone's scoring high 30's! congrats ya'll!!

i probably have the lowest scores in this thread :smack:

Do NOT be ashamed of your score. There are PLENTY of people who get in with a lower score every year. Remember, the AVERAGE is 30ish. So that means for every 40+ that gets in, someone with a 25-27 does too. Hang in there.

Really happy, I felt awful during the test. What saved me, I think, is that on Thursday I took a full length, Friday I took a full length, and then I walked in on Saturday an MCAT zombie and just went through the motions. No nerve. I was honestly expecting a 29 though, I couldn't be happier.

wow, there are some good-looking scores on this thread - congrats y'all! I'll add mine anyway...

people of Earth, I present to you the most unbalanced scores in the history of the mcat: 7 PS, 13 VR, 10 BS = 30R.

so this was a retake, first go-round was 8 PS, 10 VR, 8 BS = 26 R. maybe some schools will consider my 8 in PS? not that an 8 doesn't suck, but it sucks slightly less than a 7. man, I hate physics. that was my weakest area at the outset (I'm pretty good with chemistry but May 2 was physics and calculation heavy, as I recall). I should have studied it the most, but since I despise it with every fiber of my being I studied it the least. clearly not a successful strategy! also, during the PS section my computer died and it was iffy for a while whether the proctor was going to be able to recuscitate it and restore my test. I don't mean to make excuses, but it kind of harshed my mellow...

hope everyone is enjoying their celebratory beverage of choice this evening!

I go to a UC. I have a friend who had a 3.7, 29 on his MCATs. Research, no publications, no clinically-related volunteer experience (but worked at a doctors office), and he got into an MD medical school. I say go for it, but it doesnt hurt taking other advice too cause, frankly, i'm basically in the same situation. Hope this helps.

I was actually scared after the PS and even seriously considered voiding the exam. Good thing I didn't.

This was my second time taking it (32S 10/10/12) the first time jan. 31st, 2009.

i basically retook the aamc 9 and the aamc 10.
the aamc 9 i got a 38 and aamc 10 i got a 39.
i expected 39 - 4 = 35 ish scores for this test and walking out i had a feeling i did 33+ so i didn't void.

anyway best of luck to everyone and congrats to all who reach their goals

If my breakdown is 15Bio, 12 PHy, 8 verbal, writing: R. My gpa is 3.922, I have tons of volunteer, community, and clinicical experience. Do I have a shot at a medical school?

Yes. Of course your MCAT is really unbalanced so don't let the 35 go to your head. Apply broadly and don't expect much love from the Ivys or the UCs. Are you a non-native speaker?

You should be able to get in somewhere.
