Heyy! Finally ☺️ Should we post the full programs list like on the previous thread so we can update when interviews are sent out?

It’s still unclear to me whether we’re supposed to add a 2*2 photo on our cv, and if yes, where? Top right or last page? I think in general photos on resumes promote discrimination and should be avoided and I’m not sure if we would be penalized for adding one there. Some programs require a photo but sent directly to them. What will you do?

Some places want a photo sent to them, I think some require it on the actual CV, some are okay it being uploaded to pass, best to look it up on the pass site, and or email the program directly!

When is an ideal time to send applications in? If I send in at the end of June is that too late?

Do program directors generally not respond to emails?

Do program directors generally not respond to emails?
Typically they dont, depending on the context, thank you emails after interview id say 80 percent dont answer, questions about the program, depends on when you email, sometimes these are better directed at the program coordinator. Therefore, to answer your question, it depends on the nature of the email, and the time frame when you send it, in my experience.

In the “Documents” section in Pass, where it says unofficial undergraduate trancript, what am i supposed to upload? I have foreign transcripts and got an official translation, same for degree. Should i upload only the english translations? Or do they want the original language as well?

Do program directors generally not respond to emails?
Most of them are buried right now. They’re in the middle of graduating one class and onboarding another. Not to mention the fact that many programs are understaffed…

Depending on the info you’re looking for, you might be best off reaching out to the program coordinators, current residents or ask the peanut gallery here. :)

Okay big question, someone please answer. How is a non-dentist evaluator supposed to comment on clinical skills? Are all evaluators supposed to have seen you in a dentistry setting? Also, is it a plus if you max out all 5 evaluations? (Similarly, do i lose points for submitting just three good ones?)
I always thought that when you applied for residency that pretty much all your evaluators are fellow dentists basically. Essentially they are using these evaluations to determine how you are as a person, student and clinician in a dentistry setting.

No plus if you max out all 5 evaluations based on past experience. I did 4.

1. Group practice director
2. General practice faculty member who was my advisor
3. Prosthodontics faculty that I worked closely with and knew well
4. Pediatric dentist faculty member

Are there any programs that actually consider and accept internationals? Seems like most say they do but their record is horrible

How many programs are y'all applying to? Wondering what a good amount to apply to is without going overboard

Anyone a non-trad applicant here? I am 2 years out of dental school but have always been interested in pediatrics. I have done a GPR and have worked in private practice for 1 year, seeing kids here and there. What kind of LORs should I be getting, now that I am slightly removed from dental school faculty? and GPR attendings don't know my experience with kids, but I guess could speak to my other clinical skills.

I know 5 internationals that got in this year all at different programs+ 3 internationals at my program last year and around 3 personally known to me the year before. So many places that I interviewed at had international students. This are just people I came across. There are certain programs that will absolutely not consider internationals. You got to just be careful and not apply there. There are some that will def accept internationals and have it on their website. Check the websites. Check previous posts. Talk to residents, email the programs you are interested in. You got this.

How many pages should your personal statement be? (Note that I have a lot of important information to include)

Try to not go more than one page. Pick what you think really stands out and is most important and striking,
And shows your personality well.

God.. aren’t you supposed to cover everything you’ve done, from dental school and until now? Im not straight out of dental school and i have experience and another degree so to cover everything has taken up two pages.. what should i do?

You’re missing the entire point of the personal statement. It is supposed to explain your motivation to specialize, not rehash every little detail that can be found on your CV.

Does anyone know why NYU Langone Nashville is not listed on programs for peds?? Is my list not accurate or are they not offering slots this year?

Is sending in my application in late August considered late?

No I don't think so, as long as the program's deadlines are still met. Peds is a match system so everyone who's interviewing is not late in regards to when they submit. I'm pretty sure.

I would not say that's late as long as before the end of august, the earliest interviews happen in September if I recall correctly

If a school states that they need a DAT Score do we just submit that in the supplemental section?

I am not applying to Ped, but someone I know is, and they are feeling discouraged because they don't know any ped personally to write them a LOR, is a letter from ped is a must/very much needed to get in? That person is getting LOR from other specialists.

I suggest reading specifics in each school’s page through pass programs for peds. Some might say they require lor from at least one peds specialist (i cant remember right now). But the ones who do not specify are ok. I dont think its super important if they do not specifically require it. If the lors are good and state why they are a good candidate and can be successful in an academic program, its fine. Just make sure to have a really goor personal statement, saying why they want to do peds

Anyone else applying to Nicklaus that is filling out the supplemental application? It asks for "3 individuals that may provide additional information regarding interaction with pediatric patients" and their phone numbers. I personally only worked with our department head and filled the other 2 with people I used to babysit for... Do we know how often they actually call these people? lol

where is the supplemental application for Nickalus? I am applying there but havent submitted yet, do you get the supplemental after submitting the initial through ADEA PASS?

Sos can someone tell me if its ok to not have the INBDE results by the deadline? Do they reject you or is it ok to turn it in later and still be considered?
Wondering the same thing, trying to figure out when to take it

For those who have applied before passing INBDE - is it expected to send the results to each program? or just ADEA PASS?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe most just require it before the December match deadline or else they will remove you from their rank list.

And submitting scores through ADEA PASS is all you need (assuming you have them at the time of application) unless the program specifically requests otherwise. Not sure if there are others but I know Boston Children's is one that does.

Hi, for experiences and achievements does it matter what order they are listed in? It says "star my experiences" at the top, but there is no option to star them? Am I missing something?

Texas A&M/Baylor pedo program will be holding a zoom virtual externship on Monday August 15 at 7pm. I will post a zoom link on this forum by Sunday.

How many schools do people usually apply to? 20? 30? 😅

Depends on how competitive you are as an applicant. I applied to 12 programs, got 10 interview invites. Someone else could apply to 12 and be lucky to get one. It also depends on how competitive the programs are. Are you applying to a bunch of NYU Langone community clinic programs? Or are you applying to programs at famous hospitals/universities?

I'd say a combination of both! I've applied to 20 so far and was wondering if I should add more to increase my chances. I consider myself an average applicant
