FYI
Institutional scholarships can show up at any time during the academic year, esp during the first and second term. So don't be surprise if you don't get any scholarships now, but in the fall term receive a letter from financial aid saying you have been awarded the ABC scholarship for $xxx. The financial aid letter right now will mostly reflect what government loans (stafford, perkins, etc) you have been awarded. Remember, I said the scholarship letter can arrive at any time, so some soon-to-be-MS1 might have received their scholarship letters already. To be eligible for some of these scholarships, you have to fill out the parent section of FAFSA and submit the proper documentation to the financial aid office.
And throughout the year, you will receive emails about outside scholarships that you may/may not qualify for.
For now, don't worry about books, or studying to get a head start, etc. Just find a place, settle in, find the hot spots to hang out ... and relax. You can always get books from the library, purchase from an upperclassman, purchase online, etc.
If you have any questions, give me a PM. I'm a 4th year right now (class of 2007). I may not respond as quickly as I should but eventually I will respond.
Congratulations on making it this far. Now buckle up, put the seats in their up-right position, tray tables up ... you're going to have a bumpy, sometimes hard, sometimes hilarious ...at times insane ... fun time ahead of you.
