sonu20 I'm not sure such a list exists. Unfortunately getting any fellowship on an H1 visa is a tough task, considering most programs don't sponsor them. If you have already narrowed down a list of programs that you are interested in, I would check their website and if there is no info there, call their office.

Unfortunately the more the interviews the better the chances.However there are case of people getting few interviews and still matching! Am optimistic though..:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::xf:

Most likely you won't be able to attend all your interviews, especially if you are planning to visit >10 places. If the interview falls on a date that you are on service and it is a program that you really want to visit, then make sure you you arrange some coverage with some of your fellow residents. You actually need to stalk their schedule and send individual requests for coverage so that they feel a bit more pressured to help. You will more than likely need to pay pack, though.

1.Can someone tell me how the fellowship interview day goes differently than the residency interview day? Of course the discussion of reserch is asked heavily. Someone else told me they got interviewed by 7-8 faculty members!

2.Even if the programs enter match has there been a bias seen for residents of the same program? I think residents at university program offering felowship can comment on this from their experience.

1.Can someone tell me how the fellowship interview day goes differently than the residency interview day? Of course the discussion of reserch is asked heavily. Someone else told me they got interviewed by 7-8 faculty members!

It varies in different programs. In most programs you'll be interviewed by at least 3 faculty members and it can be as many as 8 as you pointed in here. The standard interview is basically an overview of the program, rotations, unique qualities of the program in the am and then applicants rotate for interviews with many interviewing with the same faculty. Then around lunch time you'll get some food, may get to interact with the fellows, may get a tour of the facilities and then come back for some afternoon interviews. Most interviews will end by 4-5 but some programs extend their day way into 6-7pm which is a bit ridiculous. When I interviewed at Sinai, I was the only applicant and I just interviewed in the morning, had lunch with 2 applicants and then had more interviews in the afternoon....total of 8. At montefiore I also met with 8 different people and the interviews lasted about 15minutes each...very brief. UMiami I only interviewed with 2 people.
They'll ask you about your residency program, rotations (this might be an opportunity to talk about a unique rotation/characteristic of your program), research projects and invariably they'll ask you where do you see yourself in 5-10 years (academics, clinical-educator, private practice....etc), why you like renal and to share some interesting experiences you may have had in the field and son on. You should emphasize on renal rotations you've had, interesting cases you've seen and people in the renal field that have been a major influence in your decision to become a nephrologist. If you had any research experience, speak about it, however little your role was still mention it because it keeps discussions going. Don't lie about your involvement or try to improvise... stick to what you know and understand.
Many of the interviewers will try to sell their program to you and why they think it is the best program in the country and everybody will ask you if you have questions about their program (you should always have questions have about the program so read about the program before you interview)

2.Even if the programs enter match has there been a bias seen for residents of the same program? I think residents at university program offering felowship can comment on this from their experience.

Many of the strong programs will definitely have a bias towards their internal applicants. You can assume that if someone is interested in staying in program X, they will have worked with the staff and form a good relationship with them. It is always great to select an applicant you have worked with and know what to expect. They may not choose an internal applicant if that person is perceived as lazy or not a good resident at all but this is usually rare. If a particular program has 3 spots and one of the residents is definitely interested in one of the spots (again, assuming that this applicant has all the appropriate credentials and has indicated an interest in staying) then you'll probably be competing for 2 spots with all the other outside applicants. All the internal applicants that have indicated an interest in staying on for renal at my residency program have gotten a spot.
There are some programs in which this is not the case perhaps because the IM housestaff are not considered strong and they prefer to offer the spots to other outside applicants that are perceived as better candidates.
