I gather from this that your negativity comes mainly from the rural setting of Lincoln Memorial University. As I said in a post above, the rural setting here is not going to be ideal for everyone. With that being said, living in a large city with traffic, abundant noise, fast pace etc. is not ideal for me. I love living in a rural community and couldn't imagine anything different. It is in the mission statement of Lincoln Memorial University to serve the needs of Appalachia.........With this in mind it is important to remember that Appalachia is a predominantly rural and underserved region of the United States.
No, while I do not necessarily relish a rural environment, I am very much used to and comfortable in it. Although I would wish wish for a slightly more populated area, Lincoln's setting doesn't discourage me on its own. In fact, the surrounding area is so beautiful I thought to myself "maybe I should just go here for the views alone." My issues with the school include curriculum, setting of the DeBusk center, equipment and facilities, different teaching practices, and various aspects about the final year.
Of course there are students here who were not accepted to their in-state school and came here as a second choice. There are people who are here who were accepted at multiple out of state institutions and came here. There are people here who were accepted at multiple institutions including their in-state and came here. So, there are all types of situations represented by the student body.
Yes this is absolutely true. I know some students love LMU and everything about it. But every student I personally heard was either mostly negative or indifferent. I didn't hear any true passion or excitement, even in a professional manner.
Looking back on years of NAVLE scores from the beginnings of other schools, the NAVLE scores here are on par. NAVLE scores will continue to increase each year.......I would expect scores in the high 90s by the graduation of the 2019 and 2020 classes.
Yes, that is absolutely true. But I personally don't feel comfortable placing myself in a situation where I am hoping to be part of a climbing statistic.
At this point, I don't want to upset anyone or make LMU seem like it's a terrible place. If you get accepted there and feel that it is the school for you, that's great! There are many aspects of LMU I did like. I just wanted to voice my opinion for anyone who wanted another opinion for consideration, I know I googled many SDN threads before I applied.
