Nice. I got my Hopkins rejection.

i got my hopkins rejection too :( is it because i don't have research? I have AOA, good board scores, great 3rd year. i don't care too much about hopkins but i wonder if thats how mgh, brigham, and ucsf think too..cause those i do care about.

randomname, i dont think there's always a rhyme or reason to who gets invited/rejected. i'm not AOA and got invited. i think AOA matters big time to the harvards though, especially brigham and MGH, so you'll probably get interviews there.

I don't think it is your lack of research. I have published 5 papers and have 9 poster presentations at national meetings, and I got the old rejection email also.

I think the Hopkins stuff must have a lot to do with geography and med school pedigree. I got rejected; no research, but great boards, good grades, AOA. My LOR's are from full professors, and I think they're pretty good, although obviously I haven't read them. I go to a mid-tier school in TX.

thanks for the responses people. i guess its just hit or miss. its a hard process to understand though. u work your butt off and still u may just not be good enough for them. its not even hopkins i care about but more when the match process comes around..u may love a place but just not make the cut. good luck to all!

Has no one else heard from MGH? I'm from U of KY , non-AOA, non-PhD and got prelim invite -- so for all of you guys that are human like me, keep the faith, invites are on the way!

MGH sent an email explicitly stating prelim invites this week, categorical, etc. next week.

Plus, prelim is a bit different than choosing residents who will be staying for 3 years and then going onto fellowship. MGH occasionally takes a human...but by and large it is the super-humans that get invited/ranked.

I know a lot of you heard from montefiore prior to dean's letter, but im wondering if anyone has heard since the release of the dean's letter. Let me know. Thanks

REJECTIONS
Johns Hopkins (I can feel the other big ones coming.... the funniest lines from the rejection letter --> We want to emphasize that from the information we have received, it it clear that many people think very highly of your capabilities and potential, and we sincerely trust that our decision will not discourage you in your pursuit of a career in Internal Mediicne. We wish you every success in this endeavor. --> and i was like ... really ... I also need whatever u r smoking as well LOL)

Hey wait ... that is exactly what mine said as well.

On further consideration ... screw this ... I'm quitting internal medicine!

Are they serious they think someone would quit IM because they didn't get a JHU interview?

and OMFG ... they actually misspelled "Internal Mediicne" on that craptacular rejection and didn't they misspell interview on the interview invitation?

Application fee ... $25
Cell phone to receive communications from JHU instantaneously ... $65/mo
JHU misspelling "Internal Medicine" on your rejection letter ... priceless

Its so fun being bitter.

Yep lets quit together... If we can't do our residency from JH, we better quit now LOL

LOL @ spelling mistake. I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out. :D
