IM "interviews offered" thread 2008-2009

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hi everybody:

I am an IMG with the following CV:
step 1: 93 (223)
step 2: 96 (233)
CS: pass on 2nd attempt
2 mo elective undergraduate USCE
1 year internship experience in home country
3 mo volunteer experience
doing 1 yr IM transitional residency in home country at a cancer center

applied to 80 IM programs on Sep 2, 2008
till now.............................................. Zero Invites :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I am getting depressed down to death :(:(:(

What's the problem? Any body can help please?
I appreciate your replies. Thanks

Maybe they are waiting for your dean's letter. Your usmle scores are good, but not excellent especially considering if you failed Step 2CS then maybe PDs want to make sure they have someone who is able to connect with american patients. I would consider doing a residency in your country as a back up plan.

I know this sounds kind of lame, but could anyone that's active on this thread w/ Step I scores in the low 230s PM me so i have an idea of where that type of score can get an interview?

I've heard about the rumored 230 cut-off, but it would be nice to hear from those who were in a similar boat as me. Thx!

Got prelim invite from MGH yesterday (11/4)

any others hear?

First post on IM site. hello to all.

Well, the e-mails I've gotten from BID and MGH at least say they don't even look at any of the materials until MSPEs are out. So I guess it might be another little bit before the action really starts.

I was also surprised at the slowness, so I checked the 2007 SND interview thread and the Harvard programs and JHU didn't make offers until Nov 10-15th..... so looks like we're in for a couple more weeks of torture!

yeah, i also saw that 2007 thread....but it looks like Hopkins Bayview and Penn started sending out invites on 11/4 last year. WFT?

yeah the harvards and jhu tend to be late, but there are a lot of other programs that should start giving out the majority of their interviews now as well.

for the people that have gotten stanford, ucsf, and uw...did u do away rotations there? should i be worried if i haven't heard from them yet? i was all pumped and this whole nothing business is killing me!

Now:
UCSF
UW
Virginia Mason
OHSU
Providence (Portland)
Colorado
UCSD
Pittsburgh
Michigan
Chicago
Wash U
Tufts

Waiting on:
Stanford, BU, Brigham, MGH, BID

Seems like some of these are trickling out...who knows what the pattern is?

i got UCSF and UW but did not do aways there. I havent heard from stanford yet. But something to consider is that there are many applications that are distributed to many faculty members. These people will return their stash of apps at different times and hence the difference in the timing of invitations sent out. (thats my theory)

I also received the prelim year invite from MGH. Have you heard from the other Harvard programs in regards to a prelim year?
