Trump called his white, male, former secretary of state, dumb as a rock. He attacks everyone.

When you indiscriminately attack people, you are NOT discriminating.
he has yet to say anything negative about his BFF Putin, so he doesn't attack everyone and is not indiscriminate... you prove yourself wrong.

as a side note, he has now asked 4 non-white Congresswomen to go back to the country they came from. he has asked a black president for proof he was born in the US. he has yet to ask a white person for proof that they are not American.

Diversion. Stick to the point.

FWIW, Richard Spencer states that the tweets are racist. (In case you forgot, he organized the Unite theRight rally)
Wrong. Outrage over the tweets is the diversion.

The actual point is that a congresswoman, who is suspicious of America, has found common cause with the democrat party.

I don't really blame the media and democrats for grasping at the tweets, this is a terrible situation for the party and it will get worse.

I saw Omar in a video laughing about a professor who "lowered his voice and puffed out his chest" when talking about Al Queda. "No one does that when talking about America! No one does that when talking about the US army", she exasperated.

This is someone who was rescued by America from Somalia.

So get ready to hear that question a lot, do you support Ilhan Omar?

correct me if im wrong, but you forget about the context, ignore it, or both.

The 4 Congresswomen had been bad mouthing the border agents, lying about children drinking from toilets and being harassed by agents. Trump defending the way the govt runs in our country and tells them to go back to their countries if they dont like it here. How is that racist again? We know you really want it to be racist, but it isnt.

Just so you are clear, when Pelosi says Trump is making America WHITE again, THAT is racist. But Democrats project, so no surprise.

and, we all know that you guys think you know better than the experts when it comes to content, but just so you are aware:

I have no idea who that guy is, but if he is an actual historian then he's a terrible one. Pretty sure all the guys who literally owned black people are more racist than Trump. Or maybe the guy who made the Trail of Tears happen.

Not defending Trump here. You could likely truthfully call him the most racist President of the modern era. But in the history of the country? Not even close.

I have no idea who that guy is,

he is a pulitzer prize-winning presidential biographer and probably the most famous american historian alive. but hey, what would HE know, anyway?

The context is his telling congresswomen that they were not born in this country based on their color and ethnicity. You clearly missed the context that you are trying to tout.

And outrage over tweet is the issue. The evidence is clear even to white supremacists. The tweet was racist.

And fwiw, still diversion. We are discussing trump racism, not a video that you completely took out of context

Blind devotion will get you nowhere.

your guy made it all about race. he chose the 4 congresswomen to talk about.

He chose the four congresswomen because they are the ones squawking. Trump didn't say go back because you are colored, he said go back and fix the political issues there if you think America is worse than where you came from. These four are Anti-American, Anti-Semitic, and Anti-Capitalist and absolutely do not have the best interests of this country in their minds. It's clear in their words and actions to anyone paying attention. More alarming is that neither you or the other libs on this thread seem to be uncomfortable with the hateful words and lies they speak.

and you are wrong that he was trying to point out only 1 individual, because he uses the work "they", not "she", later in the tweet.

I think you have a reading comprehension problem. I did not say he was trying to point out only one individual. I clearly wrote that he should have. The rest are American citizens by birth even though they don't act like it.

we are so far apart on this. if this is a reflection of where we are as a society, our country is screwed.

I don't disagree. The liberal left is far more interested in sewing discord in this country than actually helping anyone. They have no problem bending the law it seems in their bloodlust for power and will oppose anything Trump or a Republican proposes simply because they hate the man. The epithets abound--racist, homophobe, xenophobe, poor hater, black hater, gay hater, whatever. Divisiveness. Disagree and if you aren't shouted down by a militant liberal you will likely be assaulted by one. Pick an issue: The Democrat position is bizarre, illogical, and untenable. Economics? 90% tax rate yeah! Immigration? Asylum for everyone yeah! The tax payer can provide everything for you since you have no skills and English isn't even your first language. Healthcare? Medicare for all, no choice allowed! Just brilliant. Education? Government took over lending and debt exploded so lets just make it free! Climate? America must adopt the Green Deal! Who cares that China produces triple the CO2 and wasn't part of the Paris Accord. Sexual orientation? You are what you identify as, yeah! Except the 17y male who identifies as a girl to get into my daughters' locker room is going to get the shizzle beat out of him.

The craziness just goes on and on. If the Democrat platform is where we are as a society or projects where we are headed, our country is DONE, not screwed.

Fine, he's still wrong.

I mean seriously, you truly think a guy who says a bunch of racist things is somehow more racist than our several Presidents who actually owned black people or forced an entire race to relocate from their long time homes?

lol but that is not what happened or why he said what he said. It was answered above....twice. Trump was defending the country based on their words against the border crisis and agents. Just like Trump defends the country against athletes who dont respect the flag. Trump never brought up skin color. His tweets focused on only one thing: behavior — the appalling behavior of the "squad", their indefensible bigotry, their open hatred of Jews, their unforgivable use of equivalence to compare the American military to al Qaeda and our border enforcement to Nazi concentration camps, their un-American crusade to prioritize illegal immigrants over American citizens and legal immigrants. Trump told the truth. Trump defended America. This is what a president is supposed to do.

"Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. "

"We will never be a Socialist or Communist Country. IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY HERE, YOU CAN LEAVE! It is your choice, and your choice alone. This is about love for America. Certain people HATE our Country...."

I wonder who made these comments about bad mouthing our country? 'Merica

"Do you really believe our once great country can continue to survive with incompetent leadership. The answer is no and we better move fast!"

"Our country and our 'leaders' are getting dumber all the time."

"How stupid has our once respected country become!"

"Did you ever think our country would become an economic basket case?"

"Have you ever seen our country look weaker or more pathetic..."

That's fine....i dont really care what they said or what he said. But remember your side is the one outraged about what Trump tweeted in response and then was asked by a reporter at the Made In America Showcase, and mischaracterizing it as racist. Too bad your side has nothing else to run on so you have to resort to obstruction and tweet traps and screaming racism at everything.....even Pelosi. Playing victim is your forte.

Who would you say they support?

didnt know an opinion could be wrong, but ill take the opinion of jon meacham over the opinion of VA hopeful dr.

as you surely know, the culture was different in the 17 and 1800s. the indian removal act was passed by congress, and signed by Jackson. it wasnt just one guy on a whim who decided to uproot native americans. Washington and jefferson are now on Trump's level? please....

yea John Meacham isnt biased at all lol.....he might as well be an MSNBC host. But i see they are trying to prop him up with a new title "Pulitzer Prize Winning". Every time he is on i think they are going to bow to him. And he's making a killing thx to Trump. He's right up there with Krugman.

I see it was in the Huffington Post and then on Yahoo with the headline "Historian". That's called circular journalism to try to gain credibility. Propaganda is what it is really called. Is that what you mean by reading? If you read garbage that perpetuates garbage, it is still garbage.

Thanks for the good laugh today.

Yep, an opinion can absolutely be wrong.

"I think Norco works great for fibromyalgia pain". The evidence is pretty clear that this opinion is wrong.

The Indian Removal Act was Jackson's idea, it first showed up in his State of the Union address. Congress took it up after that like is quite common (kinda like how Obama got the ACA rolling by addressing a joint session of Congress right after he was inaugurated).

Once again, Washington and Jefferson (plus 8 other Presidents) literally owned people because of their skin color. I don't know in what world that's better than not renting your apartments to black people or telling 4 Congresswomen of various ethnicities to go back home. Trump is a racist, that's pretty hard to deny these days. But claiming he is the most racist President in our history is utter nonsense.

And no, the culture of the time doesn't make you less racist it just means everyone else was racist too. My grandfather used to get pissed off every time UVA put in a black player during a basketball game because it means less playing time for the white players. That was racist. Just because he grew up in a different era than you and I did doesn't make those statements any less racist.

might as well "read" this one too...same authors and same circular journalism

OK first, that article is almost a year old

Second, it was written before he was arrested multiple times for fraud, domestic abuse, and extortion

I don't think we'll be seeing him in politics anytime soon

As usual don't know what the hell you are talking about
Meachum along with Doris Kearns Goodwin and David McCullough are recognized as the the most knowledge presidential historians today....it is not a partisan issue.

They tell history, just because you don't agree with narrative doesn't mean they are not the experts in this field.

i like that you are able to blink when it comes to this stuff. others on this board could learn from you.

i agree with the notion that trump is the most racist president in "modern" history. sort of difficult to compare him to 200 years ago.

Outside of your intense hatred for Trump (and for the record I really dislike the guy, I just think going overboard with it does more harm than good), I think you and I share more beliefs that not.

The weird thing with Trump is I actually have no idea what he actually believes about anything. Its entirely possible that everything he says is exactly what he thinks. Its also possible that everything he says is designed to either put him in the center of things and/or piss off his opponents/make his base happy. Given how contradictory so many of his statements are, I have a hard time figuring it out. Lucky for me I live in the south so my vote doesn't matter. I can vote 3rd party with a clear conscience. Unless Biden gets the nod, I could vote for him.

I'm not sure being an "expert" has much bearing on subjective questions like "who's the most racist" or "who's the nicest president of all time".

Historians can still be anti Trump or pro Trump.

Why would anyone believe liberal media when they support the likes of Michael Avennatti? That was the point. If Satan himself said "orange man bad", liberals would suddenly love Satan.

Also, I think it's safe to say historians consider themselves part of the "intellectual class".

Elitists seldom wear MAGA hats.

How would one be titled "Historian"? Is that a title given by other journalists? Or does one go to "Historian school"? Sounds legit.

I don't follow them except peripherally but I have no doubt Trump makes many more controversial tweets. They lean far left, are critical of parts of the government, critical of Israel, etc. I disagree with some (many?) of their positions (again far left), but to pain them all as anti-American, anti-Semitic, etc reeks of fear-mongering.

This post is an angry, non-sensical, anti-liberal rant of extreme positions. That's like saying crazy Republicans want to nuke Iran, eliminate all environmental regulation, forcibly expel 10 million immigrants, eliminate the income tax, etc - a gross mischaracterization that represents only fringe conservatives.

which Republicans are currently saying those types of things? Joe Biden is being ignored because the 4 far left congresswomen are sucking all the air out of the room. The republicans dont seem to be so looney. Correct me if im wrong.

No one meaningful. Who is arguing for 90% tax rate and asylum/open borders for anyone? Also no one meaningful.

That's not my point.

Democrats may not be saying those exact words, but they are pretty close. Bernie and AOC definitely want it. How else do they plan to pay for the Green Deal or Medicare for all? Saying to defund ICE and help illegals evade ICE also says open borders for everyone. Which Republican members of Congress are saying those type of things you mentioned? When i say meaningful, i mean members of Congress.

Im not an expert on how government works, but how were the democrats able to pass a resolution in less than a day, but they cant submit a bill to fix the border crisis?

And every single Democrat candidiate at the last debate said they wanted to give health insurance to illegal immigrants.

it was mostly a rhetorical question genius. You can start by shutting AOC up so people who need beds over there get them.

my point is that your true colors are if fact angry, xenophobic, racist, homophobic, etc, etc etc.

where does this fear come from? are you actually worried about transsexuals and locker rooms? illegals taking all the jobs? (you are a doctor, btw).

your assumption about where the left really is on issues is based solely on fear mongering by foxnews et al. the majority of the democratic party is center-left, and nowhere near the policies you alluded to. today's progressive response to trump is equivalent to the tea party's response to obama.

it took a while, but here is your quote from "guess the loony"

"Deal. No prison time, no impeachment, no political fallout. "

we may not know about prison time until after 2020. i suppose we should have put a time frame on this because he may not see prison time until he is no longer president. impeachment remains a long shot. political fallout is tough to prove. if i lose, ill pay up

nothing racist here at all:

You are correct. Since it wasnt a racist comment to begin with regarding "if they dont like it here they can leave", your entire argument is moot. It sure looks like Trump is exposing a hate movement, not leading one. Trump is merely pointing out what the so called "squad" and others on the left had said about America and it's allies. Because he is exposing these people who hate America and Americans directly to the public, which is the only way the public will hear and be able to see and read about what is really going on, he is being called all kinds of names by the people who are making the hateful and bigoted comments about America. This situation is to be expected so it is easy for Trump supporters and those other than Trump supporters who do not have TDS to see and understand. And by the way, congrats on parroting the daily divisive talking points on cue.

i thought it was pretty rich and racist for Ms. Talib and/or the squad to say on her CBS interview that everyone should make note of her/their skin color before talking to her/them.

From Thomas Friedman @NYT...let that sink in.

"Democrats should focus on how we create sustainable wealth and good jobs, which is the American public-private partnership model: Government enriches the soil and entrepreneurs grow the companies."

This paragraph in his opinion piece with my corrections says it all......but i know it is just to rile up voters on his side.

"So, I wasn’t surprised to hear so many people expressing fear that the racist(NOT), divisive(NOT), climate-change-denying(NOT), woman-abusing(NOT) jerk(MAYBE... i dont care about his personality, but my friend who met him monday said he was very gracious) who is our president was going to get re-elected, and was even seeing his poll numbers rise. "

Your posts read like they were written by a five year old. I really can't understand the grammar in either of your posts.

If you don't think chanting "send her back" is racist, then there is no point in even discussing this.
