Hi all, as most of us are approaching to their dedicated study period for step 1, I thought I would start a thread to boost our memorization of First Aid. I am not one of those smart folks with good retention and I need some repetition and time to memorize. So if you guys happen to find some unfamiliar words/terms that strike you, just put those words in this thread and someone can add some explanation. How does this sound? So I will start. (Let's stick to First Aid .)

Cabergoline?

yup, good point.

Pneumaturia is the passage of gas or air through the urethra during or after urination, and emphysematous cystitis is the condition of having air in the bladder, both of which represent a rare symptom in primary care. If pyuria is present, dysuria, urinary frequency or both may accompany pneumaturia.

For 2. don't forget "pilocytic astrocytoma," which can also take place in cerebellum. I just had a UW q on this.

#6 vemurafinib
#5 thymine dimers happen, not sure if that's the best answer.
#2 hemochromatosis
#4 UVA I think, even though UVB is higher intensity UVA is the one we are exposed more (30-50x more prevalent). Also the deeper penetration plays a role.
#3: melanoma

Palisading can be basal cell carcinoma. Glioblastoma can be pseudopalisading

Wait I thought type 4 RTA was characterized by an aldosterone deficiency or resistance? CA mutation would lead to decreased reabsorption of bicarbonate largely in the PCT which I thought was type II RTA? This especially makes sense since CA inhibitors are a drug induced cause of type II (proximal tubule) RTA...here is an article that mentions it: http://ndt.oxfordjournals.org/content/27/12/4273.full

5. yeah, it's kind of stupid, but it's in FA: sunburn causes DNA mutations inducing apoptosis of keratinocytes.
