*Oral Surgery Interviews 2007*

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Originally, I was going to go on 10-12 interviews but I'm only going to go on like 5 interviews--so most of you (that deserve it) shouldve gotten more interviews. I'm still undecided about UNC--of course, I'm grateful for the offer, but I'm not in a great position financially. I'll decide by tonight and let them know as soon as possible so its early enough to give someone else a chance. Best of luck to everyone!!

Toof - thanks for the avatar/screen name love

I have 3 questions:

1) Why aren't there any hot girls applying to os this year?

2) Like everyone else: Why does everyone want to interview JakeD?

3) Why all of you OS interviewees (the top 10-20% of your classes) aren't in clinic during clinic hours?

Feel free to answer any of the above questions but realize that I only care about question #1......

from a quick glance there was one hot girl interviewing at vcu today..

I got an email from the chief to be at WHC the first of Oct. saying that they just started reviewing tons of apps and they would not call people for another month or two. So I guess my advice is hang tight. I must say WHC is a great program, good luck to everyone.

Clark Kent here... just thought I would dust off my sdn avatar now that I'm among the living (medical school is awesome:thumbup:... in case you are considering it). Sounds like the posses are beginning to form and lifelong friendships are materializing as you "matriculate" through this life altering process (yeah, I stole that word from Tigger's application essay:laugh:). So here's my two cents:

Write stuff down! Now I don't mean you need to carry a three ring binder with all the program information and attending's research (don't ask why I know) but you should take some time on the flight home to write down everything you remember about the program (pro/con) and don't just write down the technical stuff. Make sure you make notes about the "feel" you got from the place and how you were able to relate to the residents.

Stay in contact. Make sure you network while you are on the trail (residents and interviewees)... you'll never know where you'll end up or where you might eventually want to end up. Who would have thought I would end up with "Hiccup!" Plus this is a small world and an even smaller group of oral surgeons so you are bound to cross paths with everyone from UNLV Gunnabe (how's the fam???) to Gator (hey, are you still alive on the West coast???). That being said, don't burn any bridges!!!

Relax and have a great time! I know that dental school is stressing you out with boards, licensing, and trying to take vacation for all these interviews, but that is what this should be: VACATION!!!! Take this seriously, but not so seriously that you aren't yourself. Remember that you are interviewing as well and not just being interviewed.

Feel free to contact me anytime. Best of luck to you all!!! :luck:

WVU only takes people w/ GPRs or Internships and usually it is the person who did the WVU internship the year before.

yatz, your wife will cut your thing in half if you make her move to Detroit...

Also - - is there any final word on WHC?

I had fun hanging out with all you sluts during My interviews, so far.

WHC has notified people but I have no idea if they plan to notify anyone else.

I heard WOLF screams a lot, one resident so it's all on you, no plastics experience, lots of dental-alveolar and trauma, quite a few residents have quite the program.

rejected from metrohealth via 2 nifty and personable postcards today . . . glad I did that externship there, that really payed off ...
I got that postcard too. I like how the rejection was just printed on the back for the world to read. I can just see the mailman and all his friends laughing at us over beers.
