Hi,

I've been lurking on this forum for a while, but finally posting. I'm in an odd situation, I received an invitation for an interview last week with a few date options and e-mailed the fellowship coordinator back that same day, but I didn't get a confirmation e-mail from them. I e-mailed them again this week to verify that they received the e-mail, but didn't hear back. Should I call them tomorrow (one week since invitation) to make sure they received my e-mail for confirmation dates? Is it typical to not receive a confirmation e-mail? My friend e-mailed them the other day with a question, and got a response pretty quickly, so I'm not sure if my e-mails weren't received or if a confirmation of the date isn't expected. Sorry, I don't want to mention the program's name because of this odd situation.

Hi Aspergilloma,

No, it wasn't UVA. I believe the PC is in the office because they e-mailed my friend back regarding a question pretty quickly. That's why i'm confused if my e-mail didn't get received. I don't want to come off obnoxious if I call to verify, if in fact they did receive my e-mail, but just don't reply to confirm the dates.

i have no insight on the situation, but i'm approaching it from the "no news is good news" when it comes to the Big Fish who've already sent out rejections to some people.

Quick question. I did get a few invites, but already having some major schedule issues, and am thinking about requesting some schedule changes. Before I do that, just wanted to ask those who have had some interview invites: Are most interviews happening in September or October? Thanks.
 
anyone have any thoughts/info on the dartmouth program?
 
I got one, too. Filled it out and sent it back. It's the only non-university program to which I applied, but I heard it's a good program.

it definitely feels like mid-September thru mid-October are getting really crowded. I haven't seen any dates in November.

How real is regional bias regarding application evaluation? Obviously, most of our letter writers are known locally and at best within the region. Any way to overcome this? I am AMG in University Program.

What kind of procedural numbers should programs being quoting? Bronch #'s? EBUS? Tubes, etc. Just trying to get a baseline. How many is enough? Obviously as many as possible, but my impression is that it varies significantly

Does it matter if you schedule interview late like in October?
 
How long should we wait after accepting an interview to receive an interview confirmation email? I replied promptly (within 4 hours) of receiving an email from a program last Friday. They asked to notify by e-mail. Should I follow-up or are they just taking time to sort everything through?

They've basically had half a business day to deal with it. If you don't hear anything by Wed or Thurs, give them a call.

Are we getting to pretty late in the season in terms of interview invites going out? I have gotten interview invites from some of the programs listed here already, but haven't heard from 13 out of 20 programs I applied to, and only a few of those 13 programs are listed on this thread.

If you were to take 2 minutes to look through last year's thread, you'd notice that the last interview offers reported came out in mid-October. So...no.

I think 150 regular bronchs with at least 20-30 flouro biopsies and hopefully near that many endo bronchial biopsies would be nice. 20 EBUS.
