No clue. I was just following the housing links from the DMU site, and managed to find some really cheap houses. But like an above poster stated, it looks like these are real 'fixer-uppers'. It's still amazing that one could buy a house there for less than you'd pay for a car (at least here...)!!

I will golf with you any free time we may have! My best was a 78 but I usually hang out around an 85 (This really depends on the course and format-true links or not). I am an obsessed golfer and spend all my extra money (which isn't much with a wife and two kids under the age of 4) on Golf and gaming.

On a side note.....HOW ABOUT THOSE SEAHAWKS!!!!!!!! I can feel another Super Bowl Berth (even though Dallas shot themselves in the foot).

Well we've thought about buying but our credit isn't that great (not terrible but not great either) so we're trying to decide at this point. Any info you might have though would be great Boner (I think I interviewed with you and your wife at NSU).

Yep, we met at NSU. My advice would be to go to your local bank and ask the mortgage specialist for pre-approval. They'll run your credit and tell you what you need to do should you not qualify. If you do qualify, they'll tell you what you can do to improve your credit even more so the actual mortgage application process goes smoothly. Regardless, preapproval is in no way binding; it's just a way to show realtors you can afford the properties they're showing you. Our credit is about average, not stellar. Give it a shot. Worst anyone can say to you is "no."

Same situation here. We currently live at the Maple Grove Villas. They are townhouses that range from 1-3 bedrooms. We have a 3 bedroom and pay about $750/month. We have about 1400 sq. feet and the place is great. 5 years or so old and they are in West Des Moines so the area is fantastic. Let me know if you need any info.

You got it man. Yeah pending the course, I"m between a 78 and 85. I played 4 years in high school. I am hoping it will be my "release" in med school. Hopefully get out a couple times a week when the weather is nice. I WILL fit golf into my schedule.

Hey, jbone I'm also looking to buy in des moines for about 100k, hopefully, close to the school. Can you tell some areas to NOT go looking for homes....like the the streets that you see often on the news and what not. I'll hooked you up with some good bbq when we move.
