Now that the Aug CBSE is in the books, I figured we should start an official thread.

Been waiting for this one. Looks like last year first invited went or last week of August! Good luck everybody!

Unless you applied to Vandy most program declines are in Sept so waiting to submit on Friday should be fine. You’ll come up as incomplete anyway since institutional eval isn’t complete yet. At least that’s how it was described me. All the best

Sry deadlines

Its been pretty quiet. Have people heard anything yet?

I was thinking the same thing. This year CBSE was about 2-3 weeks later than usual. Think this might have something to do with delay. Also most program deadlines are early September so we still have some time... hopefully that’s why it’s quiet lol...

I didn't apply to Emory, but I am excited for interviews to start coming out!

There’ll probably be some invites this week!

Is there any point to still submit an application if a program already issued interviews out?
Emory has an application dead on Oct. 2 but seems like interviews have already been handed out. Anyone know?

It may be still worth a shot. It's still really early so, they may send out more later.

The email was actually directed for the 6 year program, but asked if I also wanted to be interviewed for their 4 yr spots.
From the email: "If you are accepting our invitation for an interview, please indicate if you would like to be interviewed for only the 6-year position or if you would also like to be considered for the 4-year track." So I assumed they sent out invites for both 6 and 4, but I may be wrong.

Their first interview date is 9/30, so I'm not sure why their deadline would be after their first interview date... looking back at last year's interview schedule on SDN, they had September interviews then too.
Keep in mind that their last interview date is in mid-December. So, theres a pretty big time-gap (over 2 months) for them to look at incoming applications. Just saying...

Here is what I would do:
1) Contact Tracey Hollingshed and ask her politely if they will be extending any more invitations. I'd also be specific when asking, as in "for the 6 year or for the 4 year track" Since, what I received may have just been for the 6 yr track.
2) If she says "yes" or "maybe", and if you have pretty good stats, I'd go for it.

Hope it works out!

Also let Tracey know the Emory website says the deadline is September 1st, but PASS says October 2nd.

Hmm, last year there were a couple different schools that gave out interviews the Friday after September 1... anybody hear anything?

I haven’t used PASS in 7 years so maybe things have changed...but is there any reason you would wait until the absolute last day to submit? Most programs don’t wait until the deadline to handout interview invites...most are rolling invites and once they reach their goal won’t look at later applications unless someone declines...i don’t know of any program that waits until the deadline and then looks at all the applications at once (maybe that exists...I’ve never seen it though).

I think it depends on the program. There are programs that review before their deadlines and programs that dont review till after their deadline. I wouldnt go as far as saying “most” but I agree with your POV because submitting your application well before deadlines keeps you covered for all programs.

Good to know. Certainly would give these programs a better chance to review all the applicants, but then they risk being late to offer interview spots during a relatively short interview season.

Which programs wait?

Which programs wait?

I know Mayo, UCLA, and Loma Linda wait. I believe there are more programs than just these 3 but I had not confirmed beyond.

The only benefit or reason I can think of is those who took the CBSE two weeks ago and had to wait to update their scores.

For what it's worth it looks like most schools are processing applications this week (a bunch of schools just processed my checks today).

Good luck all. It’s still early. Interviews invites will come in waves. Try and relax and enjoy the ride once the invites start coming in and then you go out for your first interview. It’s a fun journey.
