i called the nyc office 2 days ago and spoke to the financial aid guy. He said that they have been interviewing people since the end of January and that the admission committee will only start reviewing the interviewed applicants mid March. he also said decisions are snail mailed...

I applied early Jan, I think. But I only got my LORS and transcripts in the other day. I've just received interview invitations (Sackler today, and BGU yesterday).

I was surprised to learn that I will be interviewing with a doctor down here in Atlanta, rather than flying up to NY like I will with BBU. Anyone had similar experiences?

Called today to get the low-down on the admissions status.

They said nothing is happening this week.

The Admissions committee is meeting next week with notifications being mailed snail mail at the end of the week/ first week of april.

I dont plan on calling again cause she actually asked for my name this time, and I dont want to seem like such an annoyance.

akitman, I didn't ask when notifications would be sent. I work at a hospital with one of the interviewers, and I'll ask him if he has any idea.

I'm still waiting on my interview . I'm leaving next month for 3 weeks overseas, so I called the office to find out the status of my application and to tell them that I would be away. Within a few hours I had been notified by email that I had an interview, and that my file was being sent to the interviewer. I'm still waiting to hear from him.

Well, not sure if it counts, but when I applied to Sackler 2 years ago I applied mid march, was invited to interview within a week of my app getting in, then received my acceptance (thin letter), the first week of May.

Also, as far as marcia asking for names, she does that with everyone who calls. The lady is not so young anymore.

After the initial burst of acceptances, I think they then meet on a weekly basis or so to review the applications, or thats what they say.
Oh, and as far as interviewing not in NYC, I interviewed in Houston, being from Houston, it was quite convenient.

the question is if there is a record number of INTERVIEWED applicants, and if the ratio of those interviewed to those accepted remains the same...

According to the interviewer an interviewee has about a one in ten chance of being accepted. Take that however you will.

Oh man, that is not a good statistic to hear. I have heard of about only a handful of rejections after interview. I hope my assumption is more correct than your interviewer.

-Note: I have a friend who goes there. She said that ~800 (that was a record) people applied there last year. The class size is ~70. She thinks they probably accepted twice that amount. So logically if there was an increase in applicants this year I would guess about ~1000. If they let in 1/10 people after interview, that would mean that they would have to interview every applicant. Just a thought.

yes, i called this morning and asked (again) and they said that the admission committee is scheduled to meet for the first time next week.

The number of applications has actually come down a little from my application year. We had 1500 applicants for 70 spots in 1999 (class of 2003).

My understanding is that the number of applicants now hovers at 1000 mark.

The good news for you is that I understand that they have made the class size a little larger.
