It reminds me of my days in New Oriental School~~I bet people from other countries would not understand this, though.

Best luck! :) :)

hello, guys.

I also want to be a dentist in the US.

but now I'm still in China. preparing for applying phD program of 07 fall.

After I get to the US. I will begin my DAT journey and prepare for dental school application.

I hope everything goes well:)

Still a long long way to go. God bless me and bless you all.

I was wondering why Chinese dentist in US wants go China for practicing( the reason I can think of for this one is better life style, and its home, cant compare with other countries, plus it is good pay in china), and why dentist in China wants to come to US so badly(dont really understand this one, better pay? I thought china pays pretty good as well, or less competition?)

Personally, I miss china so much, even though I came to US at very young age, but its still home, where I grew up, and where my best friends are. If I do have the opportunity, I want to go back.

Well, this is a very interesting issue to talk about. I'm thinking just the opposite way. I don't like the dentist's life in China. If you want to make good money, you need to compromise a lot in many aspects. Once you really become a dentist in China, you'll know. Maybe this is not a problem for you. Everybody is different. So, good luck!!!

:) :)

how much do the dentists cost for one unit crown
,and how much for the implant in china?

is there anyone who got their specialist in china and is it accrediated in US?

As far as I know, the price of a crown may vary according to the material you use. From the cheapest (Ni-Cr alloy) around 100 RMB to the most expensive (Gold sediment or whole porcelain) about 3000 RMB or so. By the way, this is only the fee for the crown, not including other fees such as tooth preparation, temporary crown and etc. The implant may cost 8000 RMB per tooth. And you need to sign an agreement before you do it since if the implant is not compatible with your alveolar, there is no refund :) Different hospitals have different rates, the above is just for your reference ;)

I'm not a specialist and I don't know whether it is accredited in US. I do want to be a specialist in future if I can because I prefer oral surgery a lot :) Maybe this is not realistic at all, who knows~~

Good luck!

I left China in 2001. At that time I was a good dentist already , but I didn't get well paid. well, it was over average and better than many young dentists. That much income wasn't even surport a comfortable life for a single lady.
I just want show part of the pictur of dental practise in China for your concideration .
Of couse, my personal reason to USA is nothing about dentistry.
Still, most of my classmates are practice in China and their life styles vary from diferent hospitals and cities. I wish there will be good opportunity in China when I finish further education here in the USA. I want go back to China too, I like the professional satisfaction as a dentist in China.

I understand what you guys have written eventhough I'm not from China. But I'm willing to give you advice that read Kaplan as reference and try to memorize Dental Deck as much as you can. That's how I did.
Good luck :)

Thanks so much. :luck: :luck: I'm reading Kaplan now. Those contents are quite familiar to me but I just cannot manage to memorize everything. Should I solely focus on Decks and only use Kaplan as a reference or should I wait after I finish the Kaplan to start Decks? This might depends on individual's level but now I'm really frustrated by my slow progress.

Hi, nice to see there are more Chinese dentist in US. My husband graduated from Beiyi 10 years ago, and practiced in Beijing for 2 year. He got PhD in US and now thinking about taking the board exam and going through a 2 year program to be a licensed dentist in US. Are you preparing for part I exam as well? Do you have any dental decks? We would also like to keep in touch and get more info like how is the payback as a dentist in US. In another word, is it really worth it to spend more than 10,000 dollar to become a dentist is all you can make is around 10,000 a year afterward.

BTW,I posted in mitbbs the medicalcareer, does not seem there are a lot of dentist there.

Nice meeting you.

Do u mind to share whats ur husband's salary in Beijing?

what do u mean if it worth it?? If ur husband loves to be a dentist, then I believe he will find his way to be a dentist in U.S no matter what the cost is, plus think about 10,000 a year is just at the begining, when u own a practice, u will earn much more.

Do a search in Dentaltown.com, where has a lot current practicing dentist.

Good luck~

It is really denpends on the area, in NYC, maybe 400/day, but in a smaller town or city, u can earn more.

為什麼不回去中國執業或做教授呢?
現在中國應該很缺乏留外人才
回流才能加速中國的發展
而且以PHD的身份回去中國 待遇應該不錯
