Any other out of state students getting a little nervous about moving?

Remind me which campus?
I’m a little nervous, it’s the biggest city I’ll have lived in, but it should be fine! I just signed a lease on an apartment actually. I’m moving early December to give myself a break/time to set up before I jump into things. Texas has 60-day notice, so I’d start looking soon depending on what exactly you want. Once we all get on campus and get into things, everything will be good :)

Bout to put my deposit down Friday for my acceptance.

Yes, I’m moving from the Bay Area CA, I’ve never moved out of CA before so definitely nervous!

I just received an email today discussing I need to submit my tuition deposit by October 31st to the San Marcos campus for Spring 2019. Did anyone else receive this email a little later then expected?

Yeah I got the email too and about the finger print stuff as well. Hoping to receive information about a class facebook page soon!

Hi guys,

I’m wondering if anyone else has encountered a similar situation as mine.

I just spoke with Chelsea last week for pre-phone interview (for Fall 2019) and was told that I am missing 3 quarter units OR 2 semester units of anatomy/physiology section.
I went to Cal Poly and took these courses based on quarter units. According to her, they do not accept separate lab units, therefore, I need additional units.
**anatomy lecture was 3Q unit and lab was 2Q unit
**physiology lecture was 4Q unit and lab was 1Q unit

She told me that it says on their website that they don’t accept separate lab units, but am not able to find it. I also contacted Susan Lawes (Admissions Specialist) and all she said was prerequisites are prerequisites and cannot do anything about it.

I’m just not convinced because I dont see anywhere about separate lab units not being accepted and even if its explicitly stated, it just doesn’t make sense..

I would love to hear your guys opinions. Thank you!

Got my update email about next steps (St Augustine Spring 2019 campus)! It was more specific to forms I needed to complete and where to send them. But it did state "Clinical Education forms need to be started immediately" too. Aka drug tests, etc. But I think it says another follow-up email will outline that more.
I got the same email last week. I completed the first two forms but Emily Cruz told me to expect the drug screen/clinical forms/background check email sometime near the "end of the month" so hopefully that will come soon.

I don't have an absolute answer. I looked also for direct info on St Augustine and labs, and couldn't find a reference.

I did find other discussions on this forum that stated some Universities did not accept the separate labs:
Combined Anatomy and Physiology sequence vs separate?

If they don't take separate lab units, on this website (http://aptaapps.apta.org/ptcas/ProgramCoursePrereq.aspx?program=OOTKO) it says you need a total of 9Q units. With 4.5 quarter units for each Anatomy and Physiology. I don't know how quarter units work at all but I assume then there's something you need to take. It does say too lab not required but I wonder if it says that because they don't take separate lab units anyway? I would be confused too!

Yeah, I tried to appeal it to Chealsea but she did not accept it. However, I think its very misleading that they dont have explicit information on their website

Mine was 5quarter units each for anatomy and physiology. This equates to 3 lab units total combined for both courses. I was only told that they don’t accept “separate” lab units and I just don’t understand why they would not accept it. She didn’t explain why, just told me its their prerequisite... (which isn’t clearly posted on their website...)Would you know the right person to contact regarding this issue?

My guess is that because they do not require labs in fulfilling the anatomy and physiology prereq, that's why they do not count lab units. Did Cal Poly require you to concurrently enroll in lecture and lab? If that's the case, maybe you can send her the course descriptions. I think that would show that technically they weren't separate courses, but instead it was just the way your university made you sign up for those classes.

Also consider using assist.org to see the course equivalencies at community colleges or universities. It might be a long shot but if you can find a college that says the course you took at Cal Poly is equal to 4.5 quarter units, you could try pleading your case with that?

Yeah, Cal Poly required to concurrently enroll in lecture and lab unless it was for a retake. I sent Chelsea the syllabi for both anatomy and physio but no response yet. I also sent Susan Lawes (Admission Specialist) the same thing but all she said was prerequisites are prerequisites (I’m not even sure if she even looked at the syllabi though...) I just went on assistorg The courses I took (lab and lecture combined for both anatomy and physiology)are equivalent to about 8 semester units (USA requires 6 semester units) for many institutions.
What would you say to petition? I don’t want to say anything that might put me at disadvantage

I think all you can do is present her with the facts to support your case. I believe Chelsea is the main contact for the San Marcos campus. So if she still doesn't approve of those units, I don't think there's much else you can do besides take another A&P lecture to meet their requirements or withdraw your application unfortunately.

Has anyone done/started the TB testing yet and do you know what form we need to have filled out?

I have the same question. I think you can just ask for documentation from the person who administrated it and that can be scanned and sent. My other question is though what is EXXAT? Lol... I got an email saying my USA email was activated and this used to access EXXAT. But no link or anything was given. Where do I find EXXAT?

Yeah I dont know what that is... I just have to get a 2-step TB test done for the place that I'm volunteering at and I dont want to have to do it again.

The clinical education checklist said you if you had a TB test done within the past year, then you don't need to get another one for the school! I was confused about this at first because I just had a TB test a few months ago. Now I just need to figure out how to send proof that I got it...

I emailed them and they said to expect the EXXAT email 10-14 days after the welcome email!

Same thing happened to me. They said in the clinical education email that we're supposed to get the link to sign up for EXXAT a couple weeks after we are given our student emails I think. I got my email like two months ago but never a link. I sent an email to request a link so I hope they get back to me soon since there is a time limit on this haha

I'm in the same boat. I guess we don't have to submit the information until we get the EXXAT email? Right?

Hey guys!

I did my interview earlier this month! How long did it take for acceptance letters to be sent out? Did you hear by email or phone first?

Interviewed on September 14 at the St. Augustine Campus and was accepted for the May start date! Anyone else starting in May at the St. Augustine campus??

Do any of the ATX students want to sign up for the same BLS/First Aid class with me? I'm thinking about doing it early December. If y'all want, I can coordinate it at North America Security Service, where we get a discount. The group just needs to be 5-10 people.

How early December? I'll be there around the 12th, but going home for christmas

Yeah, I’m going home too. I leave for home December 23, so any time before that works for me. I emailed both of the places USA recommended. The HOPE church one is $85 and the North America Security Sevice one is $90. The HOPE is offered every Saturday in December at 9:30am. For the other one, we would need to get a few other people, but can pick our date/time. Might just be easier to do HOPE lol

Do you guys think it's more difficult to get into the Spring 2019 or Summer 2019 term? Chelsea said they can still consider me for either but I have to choose

I was told from Susan and Chelsea that summer term is the more popular choice for students, so just from the amount of people applying alone I would say summer is more difficult. However, they also told me that they admit students based on if they are qualified and not by the amount of seats they have, so if you are qualified you should be fine. I had my interview 9/28 and heard back I got accepted for Summer 10/4, and they told me they still conduct interviews up through November so don't lose hope. Good luck

Yeah there is. They sent out invites through an email with other things to help get you ready to start on the first. Theres only a few people in the group so I'm guessing they're sending them out in waves

Congrats to those of y'all accepted! I've attached the USA Facebook housing list below for those at the St. Augustine campus in FL.

USAHS Housing/Roommates - St. Augustine, FL Campus

There will be spots opening up over the next few weeks as upper terms head out on clinical's great opportunity to get housing in apartments close to school.

Congrats! I am interviewing for the Fall start date. Do you have any tips on the interview and things they asked?

Hey, congrats on your acceptance!

I also applied for Fall 2019. But Chelsea had told me a month ago on the phone interview that they cant accept my separate lab units (I went to a quarter institution) so that I would need to retake. Worst comes to worst, I will need to retake it, but I'm trying to replace with another course. But she hasnt responded (makes me wonder if she would have responded if i had simply shown my intent to retake the course) and i'm getting anxious that i wont even get interviewed (i feel that im qualified enough to at least get an interview).

I had emailed her again and called her but no response. Do you have any suggestions for me?

Anyone get accepted for the May (Summer) 2019 DPT full time program at San Marcos?
