Hi guys just wondering where you do the electives in the US and how long you have for them?

I hear for Califonia you have to have some letter before you can apply for match...and that really messes people up because they have to finish early.

Also, How are Sackler Graduates percieved in the US. Are they percieved similarly to Carribean graduates or closer on par with American ones.

You can do electives anywhere in the US where they take foreign med students for SubI and rotations.

I don't know about the California bit, but Sacklers match there every year, so I don't imagine its that big of a problem.

As far as perception? Perception from who? In NY, and certain places in CA, Sackler doctors may be preferred to regular doctors, but overall, the stigma associated with an IMG is always there. On the other hand, once you get past the whole getting a residency, and Sackler has had very good matches, you are perceived as anyone else, and the school you went to is of little relevance.
