Submitted my application late, I am so worried about my chances now. Seems that quite a lot of programs have already scheduled all Interview spots for the season.

how many programs did you apply to? I think a lot of programs are still reviewing applications!

Thanks for the reply. I applied to all of them , CHOP , Colorado , UPMC sent rejections and I haven’t heard from any of them. I applied in first week of August. My scores are in 210’s , all three steps, i go to a university program with a big hospital, not a very well known program but not really nondescript either. In terms of research i have national award from AAP,and a few other awards, multiple publications and multiple platform presentations, but not very specific in clinical cardiology. I think the step scores aren’t helping my case. Also not having cardiology specific research.

Last year there was a 96% match rate, and 6 program did not fill meaning those 4% had the option of scrambling into those spots. The year before was a 95% match rate. Almost half the programs haven't sent out interviews yet, I wouldn't lose hope.

Yes i saw those statistics. Apparently it seems more competitive this year? The programs who sent me rejections eg. like Indiana Riley Childrens and Colorado, said that in the email.
The sad part is that out of those 6 programs who didn’t fill i have interviews from 3 of them! And that’s not a good sign. The other 2 also have a history of being unfilled and the last is a 2 yr old program. I don’t really want to interview at any of them. Really can’t come to terms with this! I wish i could wait and reapply next year with more work on my cv but can’t do that as well as an IMG.

Yes i saw those statistics. Apparently it seems more competitive this year? The programs who sent me rejections eg. like Indiana Riley Childrens and Colorado, said that in the email.
The sad part is that out of those 6 programs who didn’t fill i have interviews from 3 of them! And that’s not a good sign. The other 2 also have a history of being unfilled and the last is a 2 yr old program. I don’t really want to interview at any of them. Really can’t come to terms with this! I wish i could wait and reapply next year with more work on my cv but can’t do that as well as an IMG.

Yea feeling a little dis(heart)ened too :/ sorry for the bad pun. Has anyone gotten/heard of a second "wave" of invites (i.e. gotten interviews from these places after these dates) or is this going to be a "one and done" sort of year? I can't imagine there will be tons of cancellations with interviews being virtual?

Yes there won’t be any cancellations with virtual interviews, thank you for reiterating that ! You just came here to say that and add to my injury, wow! Unless you’re applying for fellowship since the last 3 years !!

No need to be rude? I'm pgy3 and applying this cycle, posted through my husband's account to ask a question since I don't really use sdn otherwise. In case that's what bothered you. Waiting to hear back from most of these places as well. Not sure why I'd be hanging out here otherwise....

What are the chances of matching with just 7 interviews? As an IMG I don’t think i am going to get anymore interviews now, looking at the type of programs I received invites from so far.
