Anyone heard about this IOC sports medicine diploma? I am interested in working with the Olympics (would love to be official team physician for a sport) and was wondering if this was necessary or would help at all? Its pretty expensive. Cant help but feel it might just be a way to throw a couple of grand at another diploma for the wall with no real benefit...

Any thoughts?

You don't need it. To work for Team USA, just be boarded in sports medicine, practice sports medicine for 5 years, and network/volunteer as much as you can and work up the ranks. (source: US Olympic Committee Physician Volunteer Program application). I've worked some international friendlies in the past, and it's also a matter of who you know in the area that you work at.

There's also a FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine as well, but I don't think you need that either (if you're boarded in sports). At least that's free!
