Technically, competition should have started easing out already....however decrease in applicants from 1200 to 1100 doesn't reflects increase in no of interviews ...as the change is not that significant.

Also reimbursement slashes news were confirmed in 2010, ppl dontchange there mind at a short notice......::rolleyes:

So pissed about the Rush rejection. I have had many rejections this yr but none is as hurtful. They charged freaking $40 for the application and Im not sure they even looked at all the apps? I am sure I am more than qulified to get an interview from them....
 
I completely agree man and share the same feeling ..... they should refund the money ....maybe someone even needs to look into why and how the heck are they charging everyone this money for nothing
 
I did not apply to Rush, knowing that it only processes application with extra $40. On average there are around 500-600 applicants, and the program at Rush easily put some $20,000 or more money into their accounts. No one knows where the money go. Though I heard some good things about the hospital (not card program) from my juniors who went to school in Chicago, I decided not to apply. Something fishy there.

I have a friend who goes there and the explaination he has is that it defers people who aren't really interested in the program from applying and prevents people who apply to every program, which makes it easier for them to filter through their applicant list. Although, I am sure you are partially right in that the extra money for the program is also quite a nice incentive as well.

I mean I am from a top tier medical school and top tier residency with publications, high scores, excellent letter, etc and I payed the $40. Did I get filtered out? I think they should be more up front about their selection criteria, if they are the only program that charges a fee for applying there. I am sure MGH, Brigham and all the other schools have more applicants that apply to them. What makes them so special that need to filter applicants out!

$40 additional fee and their supplemental application form- especially the question regarding how many program I applied to, did deter from from applying to Rush.

Just contacted Vanderbilt and University of Alabama, both will have they interview lists ready by mid-September. FYI
 
160 applications, no interview yet,
1. 5 times 99 percentile, all three USMLE steps, and ist 2 inservice exams.
2. Working on multiple research projects in a Major university
3. More than 12 years post graduation experience in Internal Medicine
4. 3 Yeard cards experience in 3 countries including Australia, USA
5. Currently chief resident at a community program
6. FRACP from Australia equivalent to FRCP from UK
7. Great letters of recommendations
 
I can understand. My situation is similar. Being an IMG sucks. No interviews in spite of a good CV and letters

Don't take this personally, but if you have Visa issues........you could have discovered a cure for coronary artery disease and programs just won't give two hoots. That is just how it is.

I think UChicago just recently invited internal candidates (last week), so I'm guessing they'll start with everyone else any day now
 
NYU released interviews a few weeks ago. Cornell released some interviews some time after. Not sure if both programs are still inviting, but both were on the later side. I think Penn's website states they are not even reviewing applications until middle of September.

I have spoken to both Upenn, Stanford, USC:
Upenn has not reviewed applications yet. They will have October interviews only and will send invitations midway Sept

Standord: PD is still reviewing applicaitons. Should send out interviews any day.

USC: they have not reviewed any applications either.

Harbor, I dont know about. I have called a couple of times but seems like they never answer the phone. I emailed the PC one time with a question about one of my LORs that was revised and I received no reply!

I have applied to Scripps too and have not heard anything!
