Yes. After I sent my top 2 choices to Baylor I was sent an email stating that one of my dates was confirmed and that an email itinerary would be sent later. Great date since its the day after the I take the Step 2CS in Houston.

Today I got a letter from Uni of Utah saying they are waiting for my application to be complete and said they will contact via email regarding interview invite. It was a generic letter.

Everyone should remember that it is VERY early and many programs have not even downloaded the eras program on their computers, much less looked at any applications.
Don't get too depressed yet. If it is 4 weeks from now and still no contact, then you can start to worry.

I received a weird email from UVA regarding the fact that all applicants to their program must take the USMLE to be interviewed. I was not sure what to make of the message considering I have already submitted both my USMLE Step I and II scores. I purposely did not submit COMLEX scores because I want my USMLE scores to stand alone to emphasize the fact that I took them. I tried calling the person who sent the email to make sure they knew I took USMLE but have yet to hear back.

I also received the letter from Utah regarding a potential interview once my app is complete. I am still lacking my transcript and dean's letter.

I have received two interviews from prelim programs but am reluctant to schedule an interview until I hear from the Anes program first - do you guys have any suggestions concerning this issue?

I'm glad to see New Mexico here. I thought it was flat out unbeatable. I came out of there with skills most programs grads need fellowships to obtain. Pain, cardiac, neuro, peds, regional, ICU.

Most of the attendings and residents I handed my app list to told me to cross off UNM.

I know very little about the program and I am wondering why they said that given it does have 4 year accreditation time periods, which is better than some. I am not trying to disparage the program in any way and would be happy to see someone shine some light on this.

When did Noyac graduate and is it different now? So many of these programs seem to change from year to year.

Yeah I was told by a couple of residents at my school not to apply to UNM...they didn't really give any concrete reasons why though.

Most of the attendings and residents I handed my app list to told me to cross off UNM.

Most attendings especially the old goats know nothing about the current status of programs and unless a resident rotated at the place I would take their advice with a grain of salt as well.

As for UNM. I spent a month there last year. They have a good thing going. Great variety of cases, excellent fellowship opportunities and awesome workhours. Noyac is just one of the great docs UNM has put out in last couple years and things are only getting better.

Now back to the list of interviews...

One of the attendings I worked with last month was the anesthesiology chairman down at UNM for 5 years or so and I added UNM to my list after talking with him a bit. He had a high opinion of the program and of the area.
