oops - i apologize for causing asystole/various dysrhythmias - i did a rotation at hopkins, hence the early interview offer.

if we just put the name of the schools in the heading we won't have to search through the list each time

and all you have to do to add to the list is hit quote, add your update (I put them in alphabetical order just for ease) and then delete the quote tags and the list will be updated without being in the quote box

it might be easier to keep track if we try it this way? What do you guys think? This way it will be easy to keep track of who has offered invites this early in the game

Great idea dreamlover, but that means there will be many, many lists. I wonder if it might be better that someone just keep track of these things and make one list. By the way, Mayo Jacksonville has 27 more slots left for interviews so no worries to the folks out there (I think they must not interview that many peeps). :)

There are three mayo clinics out there, which one is the best one? Is it Mayo Rochester or are they all pretty much the same?

Oh yeah, the UVA thing is because I go to UVA so I just got invited for an interview out of courtesy.

see...that worked...but to make it even easier...put the name of the school you are adding your name to in the subject line so people won't have to search for it...I think we are smart enough to handle a list like this...they've been doing on the pre-med boards for interviews forever....and we are at least as smart as the pre med guys :)

One of my buddies from school is the Chief at Mayo Jax and loves it. You can rotate at any of the Mayo programs if you are a resident at one of them, although it is not required. Mayo Jax is a much smaller program, 4 per year. They do more liver transplants than any other institution in the country, from what he tells me. They are also very strong in regional anesthesia, get tons cases as a resident. They are about to complete construction on a new hospital/OR so everything will be state of the art. I was offered an interview there but declined secondary to my acceptance of the spot at KU.

One of my other friends (flight surgeon bud) is a CA-1 at Dartmouth and really enjoying it so far. He is on the 5 year program there (3 years res, 1 year research, and 1 year mph) Kinda long for my taste, but I don't think all their residents are in the same program. He is one of those academia driven dudes.

Thanks for the info! It's nice to get some extra info. on the programs before you go for the interview. :) Jacksonville is quite the small program, hopefully that translates to a better sense of comraderie. hehe

I got my first interview invite yesterday from St. Joseph's in NJ. I guess it's an affiliate of Mt Sinai but I don't know much about the program. Does anyone know anything about it? Please share.

I also have an interview for an osteopathic internship at Long Beach Medical Center, NY. :)

I was thinking about adding a few more applications to the ones I have already sent out. 2 of them happen to be at Penn State and UAB. I noticed that they have already given out interviews. My question was, do they typically give out all the interviews that they plan on doing in one burst, and add others later as they get cancellations, or do they typically keep handing invitations out every day? Just wanted to know so i dont waste any cash flow. Thanks.
 
They don't give out all of their invitations all in one burst. Think about it - if that were true, then they'd only be inviting people who have completed their ERAS by Sept 28 and not considering everyone else. Rather, they give them out every so often up to a point, then the only spots left are from cancellations.

They seem to invite people in rounds. I got my apps in early, but didn't receive an invitation from the place where I *matched* until the second or third round (mid-November). Other people got invites and posted onto the forum and I was sitting here wondering, "Have they thrown me into the rejects pile already?" So from my experience, getting an invite in an early round does not necessarily correlate with your match results!

Great to get the first invite, but in the same day I was dissed by MCG. Funny, 5 minutes after they sent the email saying they wouldn't be needing my services, they downloaded another LOR from ERAS :confused:
