Canadian on J1 visa and Sports Medicine Fellowship

Looking to apply this fall and starting to realize a lot of programs don't sponsor J1 visas. Currently doing my SM elective and trying to make connections. Unfortunately I can't attend AMSSM or ACSM conference since i used up all my conference time and $$ on poster presentations...

I was wondering if anyone here had difficult time securing a SM position while on a J1 visa?

Any advise will be appreciated.

Its like any other GME spot.. I know my D1 institution doesn't offer the H1 program and has cut back on J1's by about 50% since this new admin has come (heresay, based on the residency match).

There's not much more you can do besides applying to more programs. If their GME has had issues with J1, they sure as heck don't want to deal with the admin headache that may come with it, thus not "ranking" you high/at all etc.
