Another batch of Carolinas today!

Congrats! Can you comment on the spreadsheet question about whether or not it's true they have a minimum step 1 of 230 for interview? Just if you're above or below 230?

Did you go to the info session thing they had? I didn't get an invite to it and am wondering if that means no interview invite either

Did you end up contacting her again? I am in the same boat- I sent an e-mail just now and got an automatic reply that she will be out all next week. :nailbiting:
So I left a VM on Friday but haven't heard anything back either.

I did not get an invite to the info session (and obviously didn't go) but got an invite to interview. Wasn't expecting it since I didn't hear about the info session.

I guess whoever gets a response first just post....but sounds like we will be waiting awhile now.

Received a response: "Unfortunately our slots went very quickly and are full. If you would like to be wait listed, please let me know." :( (UTSA)

I just got the same email....super bummer. That was the first invite I received that I responded to within an hour and didn't get a spot. Oh well. Better luck to us the rest of the week.

i really hope this doesn't stress anyone out, but I had a question about when one should feel comfortable cancelling interviews-- I applied very widely and so I currently have ten invites, but many of them are not the best programs. I have an interview in two weeks at a place I know my SO would not want to move to very much and isn't a stellar program. Should I feel comfortable cancelling it? Or wait a few days to make sure I get some more invites? I wanted to give them notice as early as possible so someone else could take the spot, but don't want to be shooting myself in the foot.

If there is absolutely zero chance you will rank the program, then I would cancel it and not think twice. But if there is still a possibility you would rank it and there are no other schedule conflicts and/or it's not financially a burden to travel, I would still go.

Thanks for the quick response! I will talk to him about it tonight. I guess I just want to make sure I have a rank list of 12, and cost is adding up. I assume more will come out, especially since about 12 of mine haven't even given out first round invites, so I was debating whether it was worth it to go on it if it would be at the bottom of my list, if on it at all. Thanks for the advice! Really appreciate the input!

The halfway point for invites is generally late October. If you currently have 10...you have a very high probability of getting more than 15.

It's a risk to cancel but if I were in your shoes...Id probably take the risk if it's a program you're not very interested in.

Thank you! It seems like invites are still going pretty strong but just wanted to make sure I wasn't making a mistake. I'll talk to my SO and make sure it is as unlikely as I think it is tonight. Really appreciate the help!

Just for anyone wondering, apparently the applicant pool this year is larger than in the past. I'm unsure what normal applicant numbers are, but I've heard that both OSU and University of Cincinnati have much larger applicant pools: OSU - 500 applicants, Cincinnati - 300 applicants. I'm not sure how many categorical or advanced positions OSU has, but I know Cincinnati only has 2.

Anyone get an invite to Mary Free Bed(new program) and get a response from the PC in regards to our top 3 dates? I'm still waiting for a response from October 6. The PC was out of office yesterday.

Interesting. I wrote my follow up yesterday to which I received the out of office reply--I don't want to bother her by sending another today, but would really like to know what's up so I can solidify my calendar up to date.

The PC did say that she would be sending out another email later this week with more information regarding the interview, so maybe sit tight for a couple days?

I must have originally replied too late on the 6th, because I ended up getting an email saying that spots were full and I could go on the waitlist for my preferred dates if I wanted. Perks of being in the OR all day on my current rotation I guess...:(

Hey all, does anyone have information on when we can/should write letters of interest? Also, what to write in them and who to address them to and any other rules? There are a several programs I haven't heard back from but are at the top of my list.

Thanks! :)

I'd like to second this post. I don't want to wait too long and get a rejection before I have a chance to let a program know they are up on my list.

Hello to everybody, probably this is no the place, but I really need advise. I´m a non US - IMG, finished PM&R in my country this year. Step 1 222, 2CK 263 and get today my CS result, approved, basic reaserch in my country, 5 review articles, oral presentations, everything in my country. I just have recieved 1 interview (Jackson Memorial). I applied to 51 programs, 2 rejections (Washington, Schwab). I sent applications only to Rehab programs (51), I am not really interest in other specialties. I would like to know about my possibilities to match in a rehab program, and also if I should email PC to notice them that now I am ECFMG certificate.

I understand that when a rehab program accept an IMG is rejecting an AMG, in my defense I can only say that I have always wanted to be a physiatrist, but Rehab Medicine in my country is years from distance of the advances in the US.

Sorry for the grammar, and thanks in advance.

Anyone who got a SUNY downstate invite yesterday get a confirmation date email today?

Schwab rejection today, and also Utah this week :( :(

Has anyone else gotten a Utah rejection? I haven't heard from them either way and have been debating when to reach out to them since they are one of my top choices. Don't want to jump the gun on this though if they are still reviewing apps..thanks!

how many Prelims/Transitionals are yall applying to?
take a look at the the spreadsheet linked at the beginning of this thread. Small sample size but some info. It seems really varied, to be honest. My strategy was to apply to a transitional year/prelim in every location I was applying to an advanced program that did not have categorical options. Then I applied to the programs in my home state and added 10 medicine prelim programs close to me in the midwest.

Added UNC, Nassau, SUNY Downstate and Second batch of NYMC Metropolitan Hospital
