This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got my interview email confirmation from [email protected]. I think she may be the PC.

Yeah she is. You can also look at AMA FREIDA it shows all that information for each school and many other helpful items (interviews offered, breakdown of class/faculty, stipends, call, scores, etc) . PM me if you don't have an AMA login I'll search and forward stuff to you (really bored studying for CK so glad to help =-) ).

Nope. If youre in the morning interview group you will eat lunch after all your interviews and tours. If youre in the PM group, youll start with lunch I believe and go on tours/interviews after. Nothing the day before

When did your Emory interview day end? The email says 4pm but I was wondering if people have been getting out earlier.

Are there any PM&R programs that have not sent out their 1st batch of interviews yet? And question for anyone who has been thru the match, at this point how many more interviews should we expect to get assuming we have solid board scores and still have not heard anything from 30+ programs yet?

NRMP stats show that MDs with 11 ranked programs and DO/IMG/FMGs with 13 ranked programs have a 90% chance of matching. So using that numbers as a guide...and considering that the season is about 2/3 the way done...I think that I would like to have about 7-9 invites right now to feel comfortable.

Please realize that the benefit of having more invites is that it gives you more chances to be ranked highly by a program. That is the key to matching...being ranked highly by last one program. It's not like playing lotto. I can guarantee you that if you have 50 interviews but get ranked lowly by all of them...you won't match. Likewise...you can have 3 interviews and match. The truth is that the majority of people who match to PM&R match within their top 3.

Only about half of the programs issue out rejections. The others allow you to arrive to that conclusion when the season has closed and you haven't heard anything from them.

Michigan State is the only program I can think of that hasn't sent out yet. I'm not sure about Wayne State Oakwood.

I don't think there is anyway to see how many applicants there are this application season for PM&R, but I imagine its the most competitive ever. I've met people from a couple schools that say they have 10+ students interviewing for PM&R this year. I'm thinking that most programs have their interviews all set up now and any invites will be just if people cancel their interviews. However, who knows if thats going to happen as much this year as it has in the past. I'm pretty comfortable with the number of interviews I have now, but there are still 2-4 programs I'm hoping to get an invite from.

I ranked 23 programs (I interviewed at 18, but ranked both advanced and categorical positions for places that offered both) and matched to my #5.

Have you posted your reviews...that would be the most epic review thread ever. :)

For people who have interviewed at Emory, what time do you guys get done? From the schedule it looks like all the interviews are done by noon and all afternoon is just going on tour. Can you get out around 2ish? I'm trying to get a flight out for another interview the next day.

(unless they changed it)

They have about 10-12 applicants on the interview day. Everyone gets an intro from the 2 chiefs and PD. Then you're split into your two groups, alphabetically. 4 Interviews, then lunch for both groups, then tour (or vice versa tour - lunch - interviews). I was interviewing after lunch and that went until about 3:40; the tour group had already finished (not sure what time but it wasn't drastically different). Also, airport will be another ~30-40 minutes with traffic. You could ask to skip the tour if you wanted but Sheppard was really impressive.

Best of luck.

I love some of the comments I find on here. I am a military physician who has been practicing primary care as a flight surgeon for 6 years [many programs don’t seem to understand this]. I am a DO who scored in the top 5% on steps 1 and 3, have multiple published research papers, have the respect of all of my subspecialty colleagues, graduated from Walter Reeds PGY1 Neuro internship (didn't match Rads, so I was put into PGY1 Neuro), get over 200 CMEs per year [have made the most of my time as a flight sgn], stellar LOR from PM-R staff [I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time in their clinic] and supervisors etc etc. My son became sick with DOCK8 deficiency and I had to put my residency plans on hold. Back in the mix now. I would put my clinical acumen up against any PCP with the same amount of patient care experience. Have only gotten interviews from Walter Reed, UT Houston, and EVMS. Also offered interviews from MSU and Minnesota but they were offering a possible 2016 PGY2 start date and I had applied to advanced spots only as I have to allow for time to resign my commission (and to make certain I still have an income if I don't match). Not sure now many more invites I will get at this point especially since DEC is upon us. Any insight from any of you regarding the chances of receiving any additional invites? J4Pac?

Sorry to hear about that sir.

I'm sure Jpac will answer.

IMO, I think you should e-mail some of the programs you really want. Shows more interest, might move you up the pile, and it can't "hurt".. ? Try to be flexible and say you can take an interview for those who drop. Some residents on my aways did this and spoke highly of the outcomes.

Rejection Vanderbilt. So I also got a rejection today from a pre-lim program from a school I interviewed on Fri for PM&R. The PM&R program did not have an affiliation with a pre-lim but I am concerned with the timing of the rejection that maybe that means my interview didn't go well. I thought it did and really like the program but does any have any experience with this that could share. Thanks!

How is everyone doing on prelim interviews/invitations so far? An earlier post said that the interview invites for prelim year typically come out later in the season, however I am a bit concerned as I only have a few so far.

I have gone on zero prelim interviews. I applied late though and only applied to 19 prelim and like 6 Ty. Somewhat regretting that decision now. I have already had like 6 rejections - 3 of them today!

I had a similar situation at a dually-accredited transitional year/traditional rotating internship (MD/DO) where I went on the interview, thought it went well, and received a rejection for the MD application a week or 2 later. I was concerned with that thinking that maybe that's their subtle way of rejecting me or telling me they won't rank me, but I'm not sure.

Maybe it means your toast...maybe it doesn't. Rank the program based on how much you like it...not how much you think they like you. Don't try to game your rank list.

From what I've been told, most of the TY / Prelim IM programs are separate from the advanced PM&R programs. This means they don't tell each other what they think of you. I went on one PM&R interview that had a separate prelim IM interview, and the prelim director told us he couldn't care less about what they thought of us candidates during the PM&R interviews. They have their own selection process and rank candidates based on their own criteria. I would lean more on the side that the PM&R interview went as well as you think it did, and that they probably didn't call up the prelim program to tell them to cancel your application. But who really knows...

Also, TY/Prelim interviews have been going on since October. I don't know why someone said they don't interview until late. From what I'm counting, there seems to be only about 4-5 solid interview weeks left until we can start ranking programs on Jan 15th (counting christmas and new years weeks as lower chances of getting interviews). After that, the interview season should be winding down.

I got a surge of osteopathic prelim (TRI) invites last week and this week (a shame, really, because I've since decided to forgo the osteopathic match). Now, this may not be at all reflective of ACGME prelims' interviewing schedule, but it might be indicative of why this idea that "intern years interview later on" is floating around...and I'm pretty sure I'm not an N=1 as I've talked to several other osteopathic classmates who saw an uptick in TRI invites recently. Just a thought.

When I applied, pre-lims interviewed up until as late as the first week of February (my last interview was ~Feb 4 or so), and it stayed very robust in late January. Most of my prelim interviews were scheduled in January (by choice). I think I had 3 interviews the last week of January. But as you point out they start in October--it's a long interview season for prelims. PM&R interviews for the most part wrap up mid-January (I don't personally know of any that interview later), and the majority of programs are done by Christmas. I only had two PM&R interviews after Christmas, and both of them were the only programs I got invites from with any Jan dates), though I cancelled one.

With that said, perhaps with the exception of TRI's, most, if not all, pre-lim (and PM&R) invites should be out by now. Most invites handed out after now are likely due to cancellations. I think I got one (mabe two?) more PM&R invites this late when I applied, due to an applicant cancelling. Perhaps Stanford and some of the other late-interviewing (does Davis still only interview in Jan?) CA programs may still be working on their initial invites, but otherwise expect all initial invites to have been handed out by now--like I said, most programs are done interviewing the Friday before Christmas.

For those with fewer interviews than you were hoping for, if you still haven't heard back from programs then contact them to let them know you're interested and could come up with short-notice if there is a cancellation. I recommend calling (not e-mailing) the program coordinator. And I would call them today--there's not much time left.

Completely agree about space-A. The season is probably 3/4 done with about 95% of invites being dispensed. If people want an invite from a program they haven't heard yet...call the PC. If you get a voicemail...have a canned message ready to give. For good measure I would also email the PC. Some people are easier to reach by email than landline phone...I know I am.

Good advice. I'd call first, then shoot the PC an e-mail if no answer. I generally found most PC's were easy to reach by phone, but I think there was one or two I had to e-mail.

kessler and tufts rejection
stanford invite

likewise regarding Prelim and TY heard from most in Oct, two scheduled in Feb so the season is still kicking come that first week

interesting on the trail one program mentioned their step 1 minimum was 12 points higher than the NRMP average accepted applicant score. I wonder if lower tiers skew the data more left then excepted..? (they werent a top "10" program either)

What's the deal with RIC's interview? I was there last week and while most people got 3 interviews, there was 1 guy who got 4. No explanation. Are they pre selecting people they really want even before the interview?

UT Texas Austin Dell invite. One date, 12/17
