does the location of where u went to med school effect where u match...for instance if i'd like to go to med school in Washington D.C will it be harder for me to match in NJ or NYC? considering my grades/boards/blah blah are up to par or competitive?

Whether you're competitive or not, location of your med school doesn't matter.

Its another yes and no. Yes some residencies have regional biases (west coat vs east coast) if the spots are sparse and the competition is fierce but its more the exception than the rule. Its also more of an issue for those us citizens who went to med school in the carribean or europe that want to come back home.

for the most part, it doesn?t matter...however, if you go to med school, college, and high school in the same city, then its more difficult to convince residencies that you`d be willing to fly across the country to attend their program...ie, or that you`d be able to survive away from your comfort zone...
