Just a junior in college right now, but since childhood I've been interested in gastroenterology.
I was dx'ed at 11 with Crohn's and grew up with flareups common and went through many treatments and hospital stays, eventually getting a total colectomy when I was 17 and living with an ileostomy ever since. I always promised myself that if I had the capability when I was older to become a doctor I would to concentrate on peds and getting them through what I went through more comfortably because I could better relate to how they felt.
Perhaps naive, but that has been my inspiration to go through college getting the grades I've been getting. Might change in the future if/when I get into medical school.
What about you all?
