I am in the process of obtaining letters. I know I need a PD letter and a couple GI faculty letters. How many GI letters are needed. I have am IM continuity clinic preceptor who would write a strongest letter due to our closer relationship. Would that letter outweigh any GI letter?
1.) How many GI faculty? Thoughts on name recognition vs. how well they know/write you a strong letter. Obviously I think how well support you means more, but if one well known faculty is known to write a generic letter, but you're not sure how the others will be what would you do?
2.) I plan on rotating with 3 different GI faculty's clinic so they have me fresh in their mind. I am not sure if I have a chance at my home program, so I want a strong letter for external programs.
