What's student/social life at Johns Hopkins actually like?

I want to attend JHU as well; the campus life was never interesting until someone else mentioned it. But ethnic self-segregation and cutthroat students makes the social life of a college student there make it seem like something I'd want to avoid...

Take a campus tour, visit the area, etc.

Undergrad for the most part is what you make of it. You have various cliques, groups, clubs. Vastly different from HS in that, if you want to never see a person again, you probably won't a second time before you graduate. You can do whatever you want. Cutthroats are everywhere, etc. Went to Towson and can confirm this; if you seek out the 4.5 gunners, you can always find them.

Side-note: IMO, Hopkins is okay, not great for undergrad. The undergrad is no better than surrounding schools in much less urban environments. The fame and regality comes when you talk about the professional and graduate schools; that's what that name means to people around the world, not their undergrad more the most part.

Also, consider if you want to live in a city.
