Saw a picture of a prep the other day and it was beautiful; somehow, the dentist managed to maintain the same length:width ratio between the unprepped tooth and the prep. Any advice on how to achieve the same result? My own and most of the ones I've seen are generally circular or oval at best..

Be accurate in your occlusal depth cuts, then do not reduce below those. On the buccal, lingual and interproximal be sure to follow the contour of the tooth as you prep.
