Unless they explicitely state that you can submit before hearing from them, I would not. It is bad form at best. Exceptions would be schools llike Hopkins, that allow submission before an invite. Just my take anyway.

Yea, that's what I kinda figured.. I'm leaving town for like 3 weeks though and trying to get everything taken care of that I can, haha

are you guys sending secondaries to those that haven't sent a formal invite but have it on their site (and aren't screeners)..
(like tulane)

Yea, I did. I was waiting for Tulane for a while then finally realized they don't actually notify you. I sent the Tulane secondary in a few days ago. Does anyone know what other schools do the same? Howard?

You can always call the schools that you are unsure about. Asking clarifying questions is always a good thing.

From their admissions site:
Students who formally apply to the College of Medicine may be requested to submit the following within 30 days of notification from the Office of the Dean that the application has been received: application fee of $45, accompanied by a fee form; two letters of evaluation from premedical science professors or a committee letter of evaluation; and a completed supplemental application form.

I guess "secondary" is kind of a misnomer. There aren't any essays. There are some forms to fill out and a check to mail (of course! It's not too bad though, $50). The letter that came with it said that you can expect an interview invite ~4-6 weeks after receiving the packet. :) All of their interviews are on Wednesdays, apparently, and they will send you a date and time. You don't get to schedule it. :(

thanks! i just got mine in the mail too!!! (oos)

Sexy, just got Feinberg and sent out Rush.

Okay, so here's my dilema:

I realized after submitting my AMCAS application that I would probably not get a secondary from OHSU because their website says:

Biology - One academic year of general biology to include one genetics course. Laboratories are recommended

Well, I never took genetics and won't take genetics. However, my intro to Bio course had a big section on genetics (like most). So, I thought I'd get screened out. Today, I got their secondary, and on it, they don't ask for a review of my courses to make sure I meet those requirements. So, if I fill out the secondary and send it in, am I wasting $75???

I have a question. By the way, hi everyone, this is my first post on this forum.

I submitted my AMCAS pretty late (07/28/06) because I had to build up hospital work hours this summer, which I'd never done before. Within a week, I've gotten like 6 secondaries. What is the significance of this? Should I be happy that I passed the first stage or does everyone automatically get them? The schools are Penn State, Columbia, NJ, GW, Boston U and NYMC.

I know that somebody categorized the schools before, but the listing was kinda confusing. Anyone know how serious is the screening process, if any, for the six schools above? thanks in advance!

What the heck is Albany's "Describe Yourself" question asking? Do they want me to physically describe myself or tell them "what I'm about"? A 1000 character limit isn't much at all.

Am I reading the UCSF app correctly in that if you are NOT applying to either of their special programs no don't have any essays to answer ?!?!? That would be grrrrrrreat! :D

Ha, yeah! I found myself writing stuff like: I like camping, deep conversation, long walks on the beach..... This is a weird essay.

No, they're making it available on Aug 15.

And I don't think they screen.

Cool thanks.
For those OOS people applying to U of Washington, Seattle, if we havent received a secondary by now can we pretty much assume we arent getting one?

I've actually been wondering the same thing! When were you verified? I was verified on 7/17 and received the initial letter from them last Wednesday. I think it is still too soon to assume anything, but I would feel better knowing that I would at least receive some notification, whether it be rejection or invitation! Good luck :luck: !

This is kind of an emergency., Please PM me if you do, I need a scanned copy or any copy of the evaluation sheet to evaluate the instructors. Thank you very much.

Need Secondary Questions? Have Secondary Questions?
Got Interviews? Got Rejection Letters? Just Curious?
Dude, Where's my Verification?
Can I get a status check, pretty please?

I think that you could say that OHSU isn't a screener. When I called them yesterday, they said they sent them out to everyone. I actually haven't fulfilled their requirements, and will not. But, they still sent me one. Anyone been rejected by them pre-secondary???

lvl DrVN watsup? You can't get in their websites???

BU-They said they would email me my login by Friday twice now. For last friday and this friday. Still no login.

Albany-They took my 100 dollars, but I cant save or certify.

Hence, officially hate both Albany and BU--probably will w/draw from BU but Albany is one that I have been waiting for.

This is what I found on the Baylor site:

Instructions for Completing the Baylor College of Medicine Supplemental Application to the First-Year Medical School Class Entering August 2007
Supplemental Application: NOW AVAILABLE
AMCAS APPLICATION DEADLINE 11-1
SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION DEADLINE 12-1

Solutions magazine from Baylor College of Medicine

Applicants will find a wealth of information in the BCM publication Solutions.

The Supplemental Application must be completed by all applicants. The final deadline for all supplemental applications is midnight Dec. 1. If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Office at [email protected]

Sounds to me like you don't need an invite to fill out the secondary.

I am just curious as to why you would waste your time & money if you don't plan to meet their requirements. If you really want to go there, you should plan to take genetics, doncha think ?

Hopefully this thread can be of some help:

For the University of Iowa application, under required coursework, there is a drop down menu asking you to list hours for each course. I was wondering if this was the hours on AMCAS or the number of semesters of each class type.

Thanks.

i did the unfortuante thing of applying to UIC (i graduated so i cant even fulfill their psych requirements even if i wanted to). Fortunately my anthro classes wil suffice. It sucks to really put requirements like 3 semesters of psych or whatever especially since most students dont really look at any med schools' prereq requirements that early into their UG to really alter their courseload to fulfill it. Eh such is life

So there's an email invite to Stanford secondary, Copperstripes, can you post the secondary Q's?

can someone please confirm the Stanford secondary? They send secondaries to all applicants (msar and school website confirm this) and I haven't received it yet...(AMCAS verified in late June)

I haven't received the Stanford invite either, and I was also verified in late June.

im sure we'll get it in the next few days b/c its not a screener, so i wouldnt worry about it

No other school I'm applying to requires genetics and if I did take it, I'd have 3 more semesters instead of 2. I kinda want to get in this application cycle. I didn't realize genetics was required when I turned in my AMCAS.
