All Branch Topic (ABT) REMOVED

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm not high speed, but my observations about high speed docs after being friends with some, and conversations with many over the years.

You don't pick SOCOM, SOCOM picks you,
Being in the right place at the right time with the right people. ie fate, destiny, luck, etc
Specialties matter (unless you're a known quantity and have good general medical officer skills). General surgeon, ortho, FM or ER? Sure. Pediatric neurologist? Not so much, unless you were a operational stud in your previous life.
PT stud
Do operational time as flight surgeon, go to jump school, go to air assault school before residency.
Orders to 'tip of the spear' army posts in order to be seen. For example, Ft Bragg ( 82nd Airborne) would be better than Ft Gordon (Signal Corps)
Look for opportunities to volunteer to deploy in support of high speed units.
Don't be an ass.
Network, network, network while doing all of the above.
There are always exceptions.

Be careful what you wish for. I just taught this past year with a high speed doc who is supporting SeALs, and he absolutely is hating both them and his life with them.

Good luck.
