*Pedo 2006 interviews*

Middle class rank, 86 Part I. Lots of extracurricular stuff, a two-week pedo externship, class president, class vice-president, provided tx. in a pedo community health dental clinic for 4 weeks, etc.

I didn't expect my stats to get me interivews at every program I applied to (I'm too realistic for that), but I'm hopeful that I'll get at least a couple of interviews.

Also, I hope you didn't devote more than two sentences on your personal statement to your "moderator" work on SDN. Seriously, if I were a pedo admissions committe member, I would NOT be impressed by SDN at all. In fact, it would be a negative in my books.

I didn't mention SDN in my personal statement. It has nothing to do with pedo. Why would I mention it?

I disagree with your stance on SDN. It serves a purpose and does that very well. I've devoted a lot of my time over the past 5 years to foster a better dental community within SDN. What's with the personal attack? You don't attend Harvard by chance, do you?

Gavin: it is still early in the game for some schools. I only received one interview by the end of october, and then received another 5 in Nov/ Dec. So don't lose hope. Good luck.

Gavin, I'm sorry for what that person said. It was wrong. Don't worry, my stats are about where yours are and I've received 3 interviews. Also, I just wanted to say thank you for organizing this. It is great.

I heard from USC today by phone. The interview dates are on 11/2,9,16,30 and 12/7. The person who called said I would also receive an e-mail with more information.

Thanks for the wonderful thread, Gavin. Pedo is not a about numbers, its about personality. An arrogant snob with 95 on the boards may not be a good candidate, whereas a pleasant guy with 85 may be a wonderful candidate for Pedo.

Don't worry Gavin, LLU hasn't sent out invitations yet. I know the interview dates because I go there and asked what they were to make sure other interview dates would not conflict with LLU's dates.

i called temple yesterday and they said that all interviews will be sent out first week of november, since deadline for applicants is nov 1, they want to make sure they get all the papers. Also, if you wont get an interview they will send you a rejection letter. So, no new is good news too

They must do a rolling interview invitations, since some heard from them 3 weeks ago. They must mean that all of the interviews will be sent out BY the first week of November.

Relax, be yourself. I know it's easier said than done but most people in the pedo world are nice and your interviews will be pretty conversational.

Hey Guys, I'm kinda new to this forum. I think it's great that you're helping one another out like this. So far, I've heard back from Howard (by phone), NYU (email), LIJ (email - confirmed dates on phone), and I had a pretty crappy experience with Bronx Lebanon. Called in to check the status of my application, the residency coordinator told me I had an interview - when I called back a week later to schedule it... she told me she made a mistake!

I'm pretty nervous too, stats aren't the best... but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
