As the title says. How many applications should we aim to send out? I would assume it depends on CBSE score. Based on old scale, if one's CBSE score was between 80-85 or 85-90, how many applications would you send in?

IMO around 20-25 is a reasonable amount if your application is strong

Depends on 4 or 6

I’d say if 6 year:
80-85: 25
85+: 20

4 year I’d add 10 to both numbers

Many many more people applying the 4 year programs, with many of them being applicants with one or more preliminary years at programs.
do 4 year programs prefer applicants with non-cats over dental students with better stats?

Not always. It’s been years since I’ve been in residency and screened/interview applicants.

We always placed the most highest emphasis on academics.

But with the sheer volume of applicants - you will find those with both. Those with good academics and those with a prelim year.

Plenty of dental students with strong stats will match to a 4 year program.
I’m living proof. I got in the first round at my top matched program. It’s all dependent on the individual applicant.
