Do any programs cover any of the costs of interviewing (hotel, etc)?
When I interviewed, some covered lodging and arranged transport to interview, although this may have changed since then.

Did I miss something? I thought Case doesn't have a program. Or is it just an osteopathic program?

Exactly. I emailed because I'm an MD, and apparently they're having ERAS issues. They take both MD/DO.

Has anyone gotten an invite from the above places in a second round of invites? I'm really hoping to hear something from a couple places that have already given out a first round of invites.

I heard from wash u in a subsequent round of invites (like last Friday?), they only had one date available.

Got Emory today.

It's been totally quiet the last few days! How about for you guys ?

I haven't heard anything in over a week. It had started out promising and then... nothing. I don't know what is a good number of interviews to have at this point or how many we can expect later. It makes planning rather difficult :/

I hadn't heard anything for over a week and then got Tennessee yesterday. Today is another silent day. I likewise have no idea how many interviews is good at this point and what to expect for the coming weeks.

Did anybody else apply to ny/nj programs?

Well at least we are all in the same quiet boat. Does anyone know if programs that have peds and medicine tracks if they send out their invites together or if they are totally separate?

And FYI I'm pretty sure case western is taking just DOs, I met a graduate from their medicine program and this is what they told me. And they also know who they are taking this year- really weird. On a side note I emailed the PD of IU and he said that they will only be in eras mid August! It's a new program but again, super weird !

That's a bit disappointing about Case, but makes sense given what their website looks like. Just wish they would have said that when I emailed!

As for IU, the last time I called them they had said August 1st, so it's good they're still trying to get the program up and running, but I'm not counting on them actually starting up July 1st.

I emailed earlier this week and the PD told me they were taking MD and DOs. Not sure why the discrepancy. Told me to send my stuff in via email.

Thanks! I am applying from the peds side. My invite specifically indicated it was for the peds track, so it's possible that the medicine track invites were sent separately/not yet.

Got an Emory invite.

Anyone heard from programs in California?

When people start interviewing (this week/next week), can you post your impression of the program? Good and not as good.

How many interviews are the non couple matching people considering? I was initially shooting for around 10, wonder if that is enough...

I am thinking between 12-15. It's hard to predict at this point because there are still several programs I'm interested in that I haven't heard from so it may depend if I get last minute interviews at places.

Hi all,

Sorry to (slightly) change the topic but I was wondering whether anyone could tell me which are the top places for allergy in the US. I'm a medical student from outside North America (still a Western country though) and I was wondering where the best places might be to go for an elective in allergy in the US/Canada? If you wish to PM me, that'd be fine too.

Thanks,
rhinallergy

I guess it's reaching the point where interview invites that come now have a large chance of clashing with other scheduled interviews. For example, I just got an invite at a good program, but they only gave me two options for dates. I am scheduled to interview at other places on both those dates, and I still really want to attend those interviews. Do I just request to be on the waitlist for another date for this new invite? It's unfortunate, to say the least.

I think some places are more accommodating than others and will let you interview on a day not listed. You could also try switching your interview date at the other programs. Ultimately, you may just have to decide which program you're most interested in and which will more likely make the top of your rank list. I've already canceled a few interviews but there's still several good programs I haven't heard from and would be interested in but as some point you also need to make travel plans :/ good luck! Too many interviews is a good problem to have!

Yeah, it's definitely not a place I've been in before, or expected to be in now! But I'm very grateful. I emailed the program to ask about another day; we'll see what they say. I can't cancel or switch the other interviews because they're ones I'm really interested in, and I scheduled back-to-back interviews in the same city both those weeks.

Oh that's frustrating. I hope the program is accommodating. If that doesn't work, maybe it's a program one of us is scheduled at and we could arrange a trade.
