*~*~*~* Official 2016-2017 Application Timeline Thread (Submitted, Verified, Mailed) *~*~*~*

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
When it's your 3rd time applying, I think stressing out this early in the cycle is a little warranted. Clearly I need to stop checking SDN for a month or two to keep the anxiety at bay.
It's my first time applying and i'm just as stressed so don't worry haha. We all are justified in having this stress !

Thanks so much for replying! Unfortunately, it's the last thing on my to do list around end of July or first week of August (bad idea). I actually finished undergrad in 3 and a half years so I was doing all summer, winter, and may-mini classes year round. I didn't have time to study :( . What do you think would be a good AA to have to have a good chance to get in one of the schools I applied to?

Augusta is 5-10% OOS. Mississippi gives preference to MS residents, but accepts OOS now too

Your EC looks amazing tho, wonder what could be the problems because I got same stats (1st time applicant) but lesser EC (900 hrs volunteer tho).
Have you done anything to improve your apps for previous cycle (new LOR...etc)?

I got a new LOR from the dentist that I work for. And I just got the job when I applied last year, so that's kind of new on my application. I also just got my Master's degree this May.

AADSAS says "Admission limited to U.S Citizens/U.S. Permanent Residents who are residents of Mississippi" in the school designations section. Am I misinformed that MS accepts OOS...?

What is your Masters GPA? One admissions lady told me that she only recommended to do a Masters if it included a thesis and research. I think your DAT is fine, but do know that some schools have cut offs of 17 in each section whether they announce it or not. Also, some schools regard QR as the most important because it tells them how well you're able to quickly read material, understand it, and not be confused by the questions. After all, in dental school you'll be reading your butt off and answering questions all day and night.

Anyone else get an email from UNE saying their app was under preliminary review?
Haven't received info about their supplement yet...but I believe they're selective about sending those out:nailbiting:

No such thing as batches anymore.

Batches were never a real thing to begin with. We made up the term batches. AADSAS has never uttered the word batch.

I also was skeptical about the term "batch", however, I just called AADSAS to ask about the "mail out" procedure since U of Michigan emailed saying my application was under review, and he told me that since my GPA has already been verified I'd be "sent out in the first batch". He also said that schools get access to your application electronically after your GPA is verified.

Yes, US residents can apply

Just over a 3.0. I did a thesis there, but no research. The dean of UDM recommended that I do the program I did

Do your research. No where does it say only MS residents. Only international can't apply, but any us resident or MS resident can

If you're a resident of Mississippi you're obviously a resident of the United States so there would be no point in putting the first part in. It would strictly just say Mississippi residents only

If you look at the ADEA Guide for Dental Schools you can see that they accepted 0 OOS (0 applied). This is also the same for the 2014 version of the book.

So prior to this year, when you clicked the submit button, that submitted your app to AADSAS for them to begin processing it and verifying your GPA. Once that was done (took 4-6 weeks), every Friday or so, AADSAS mailed out the verified apps in groups (called batches).

It seems like the batches have been done away with according to some people posting here.

But yeah, that's the difference between submitted and mailed.

Yeah, I always heard about batches previously from previous pre-dents, but I saw no indication of that when I was applying. I have been getting a few emails for supplementary apps as well as confirmations from a few schools.

"Admission limited to U.S Citizens/U.S. Permanent Residents who are residents of Mississippi"

Pretty sure they don't accept OOS....

Permanent residents is with reference to Greencard holders living in mississippi, not a US resident living in Mississippi. As a greencard holder (which I am), I'm referred to as a "permanent resident" of the US.
