Official 2008 Rank List Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yep. But it is in the "dead zone" portion of my list.

Is there something I should know about rush before I rank it?

hey...why did u put utmb over baylor and scott white? im in a bind btw scott and utmb as my number 1. any suggestions?

I liked UTMB because of the curriculum, i.e. 6 months of Anesthesia in the first year. And all the money the department has (free laptop!).

The other two were hurt by there location, but that's just my personal preference. (Houston's too big, Temple's too small).

Scott and White seemed very friendly and probably a really good program, but I couldn't see myself living there. Then again, as far as location goes, UTMB didn't seem that great, either. I guess that's why I put UTSW first.

i think it's a solid program. just didn't end up higher due to other programs i liked better/ location. still on my list though.

My Fiancé preferred the Medicine program at Wake (I am couples matching) for a number of reasons. I actually had to fight to keep Vandy as high as it is.

If it were just me I would probably still have Wake above Vandy. Only reason why…Traffic sucked in Nashville when I was there. I feel that both programs are equally as strong…

If I were single I would rank Vandy above Wake...

That makes a lot of sense - thanks!

WHY do I feel the need to keep making sure my list is certified, etc?

Ditto. I have checked my list 10 times today, just to make sure that green "certified ROL" appears. It would be total bs to not match due to some glitch.

Gasman,

Upstate is offering categorical spots this year? Just last year, Dr. Calimlim was adamant they wouldn't go categorical. Goes to show you that things change!

Well I don' t know about you, but I just had a mini hyperventilating spell. Going to bed now. With a drink. A large drink. :(;):p:eek::eek::eek::confused::scared::thumbdown:. I take solice in the fact that I am the only one so far who has ranked Northwestern #1. That means my chances are higher, right? Something tells me I will be having lots of similar thoughts over the next 3 wks.

may I ask why baylor is below ut houston and utsw? just curious.

I rotated at Baylor and I did not feel that the PD was very approachable. Additionally, I wrote up some critical care stuff and she said I would only be a contributor for the chapter I wrote. That kinda rubbed me the wrong way being that I spent 2 months writing it. Also, my wife would rather live in Dallas than Houston. Hopefully it won't matter anyway because I hope to match in one of my top 5 choices.

Why didn't your rank Durmstrang? Did you think people were unhappy there? I feel like I should get as much experience with dark arts in training before I go out and practice on my own.

Durmstrang is q3 call and doesn't have good regional exposure. The PD at Hogwarts, Dr. Dumbledore, is very resident friendly (though between you and me, he is a little too friendly with the male residents).

After about 8 changes yesterday...
