NIH loan repayment program now accepting applications

The NIH loan repayment program just opened up, more information may be found on their website:

The application period ends November 15th. This program will pay up to $35,000 per year of your educational loans if you are engaged in research. With the newly created physician-scientist pathway in pathology there may be individuals who qualify.

Pathologists qualify for this research since research involving human tissues is specifically included as one of the criteria for eligibility. Here is the direct quote

Clinical Research - Patient-oriented research conducted with human subjects, or research on the causes and consequences of disease in human populations involving material of human origin (such as tissue specimens . . . Emphasis added.
