Hello all,

I've spent my gap year researching and working closely with my Principal Investigator. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with a super aggressive tumor and passed away within a few weeks of diagnosis a few months ago. I was wondering how to go about getting a LOR from this experience? Should I ask a Post-Doc in my lab to write on his behalf? Do I need to address this anywhere in my application? Thank you for your help.

I had the same thing happen. I asked a post-doc to write my LOR and they made sure to mention that the professor passed away.

Definitely try to do what @bibo478 did, if you can. And I'm sorry for your loss of someone you worked closely with, that's very sad!
