I will be entering the class of 2012 NOVA Optometry School this coming summer and am concerned about the decisions I need to make about having children. It is very important to my husband and I to have them early and we are thinking about having 3-4 starting after I graduate. I will be 26 and was curious if anyone knew about the requirements to maintain certification if I decide to take off a few(maybe more than a few) years after I originally obtain my license. Do I need to keep a part time job? Will I need to take continuing education classes or seminars to maintain current knowledge of the field? Any help or information about waiting to start work untill after the kids are all in school would be greatly appreciated.
