Joining Army as an International Status

My friend, who is a current international student from Korea, recently became interested in joining the Army after the graduation. Obviously, he does not have a US citizenship. Is there a way of joining the Army as a dentist without the citizenship? If so, will he be getting the US citizenship after a certain years of service? Since I am currently in Army HPSP program I am not too familiar with how things work for international students. Help me out!
