UNC Sent out interview offers for the December 10 & 11 date. It looks like there is hope if you do not get invited on the first go round
binka_777 said:Have Harvard and Stanford actually invited? I am sure they have. Also, have any of heard from any other California schools (other than KP)?
Ursus Martimus said:Does any body have an idea of the number of applicants and total number of spaces. I heard ~175 applicants, but that seems low and I really don't think so.

radonc said:and i think a more impressive ratio to use is the number of interviewees to a spot. i remember they were between 20-35 interviewees to each spot. Think about IM...they interview 300-400 for 20-30 spots. a word of advice....go to as many interviews as you an...def do 15-18 if you get that many. its a competitive field.
nothing is more disconcerting that the applicants knowing the interview dates before the interviewers...Ursus Martimus said:I think that quite a reasonable question. I appreciate your input from previous years, but since the topic of the forum is "this years crop" I could see the topic becoming tangential. I have heard 175 people for 100 postions. I am only inquiring about what people from this year may have heard. Congrats on your spot and good luck in your career.
seems like johns hopkins is being coy again this year.radoncadonk said:the number of applicants in 2003 was 214, which was a bit higher than previous years. the applicant/position ratio was 2.0 in 2003. it peaked at 2.6 in 2001.

kimplera said:Also, is it ok to tell a program that you are no longer interested in them? A reverse rejection of sorts...or is the field too small to burn bridges like that?
absolutely agree.Thaiger75 said:I don't see any advantage of rejecting them outright. If they offer you an interview, just respectfully decline, citing that you have interview conficts or the like.
kimplera said:Any word on hopkins or MSKCC and if/when they'll be offering interviews.
