I've never understood why so many people liked emergency medicine.
Seems exciting, 35-hour work weeks, not hideously competitive.

Lol, just random thoughts of my day. First, Im studying so much right now that I hate gross anatomy, we have a written test and a practical Friday. I took a break and went to the psychiatry interest group meeting today, which was in a bar. I like the psych residents though, a LOT more than I like the surgery residents. Lastly, when you're stressed out don't have time to sleep or masturbate as much, you make really bad decisions
Good...we don't really like you either.
I don't know, it's certainly not my cup of tea at least.Seems exciting, 35-hour work weeks, not hideously competitive.
Like 1/4 of my class is in the Emergency med interest group. Between that and Ortho it's probably 95 % of the class.

Well I can for sure say that a lack of orgasms makes me cranky lol. Does it really take you that long to masturbate tho?Lol, just random thoughts of my day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_birds_and_the_beesIf a girl says she wants to chill after the exam, what happen then?

Most people in my class, granted were m1's with only a few weeks of med school under our belt, want to be in either EM or Derm at the moment. Surprisingly there isn't the huge ortho group that you'd expect. I probably wouldn't join an interest group but I found that I'm one of the few students really into surgery, specifically ortho.TV and movies, probably. Although, I imagine the interest groups don't really indicate true interest. I think EM is one of the lesser represented specialties for the match at my school, despite the popularity of EMIG, while peds is really high (historically 40%).
That might be just a bit presumptuous.

Pathology interest group is where it is at.
Get her drunk and see where things go, I think.
At least that's what I've heard you're supposed to do. Not exactly sure how it works, and it seems sorta sketch to me.

Swedish Marriage Manual.don't rape the poor girl.
Just chill with her. Watch Netflix and see what happens
I hope you're kidding.Get her drunk and see where things go, I think.

What pathology subspecialty was she in?Yeah but that job market is tight, real tight. I asked a pathologist about the job market, and she gave me the pathology cliff hypothesis as expected.
Or join every interest group just to f- with people. Heck let's face it - people go to these meetings for free food and drink. Most people in my class, granted were m1's with only a few weeks of med school under our belt, want to be in either EM or Derm at the moment. Dude go watch Hitch. Let me know when you have and we'll go from there.Get her drunk and see where things go, I think.

Are you sure you did that badly? Do you think it was bc you spend too much time on SDN or worrying/anxiety rather than studying?Well, I think I got in the 50s or so, so I failed the class. I guess that sinks any chance I had of getting into anything that wasn't FM or Peds. Shame, I really thought things were going to go well this time, with the work I put into it. Shame.

Not sure what to do, maybe I'll have to kill myself, I dunno.
Everybody else is going to be partying, I'll probably cry myself to sleep again, then we'll see what happens.

Was it a final exam? Was it bc you didn't go thru the material enough times to solidify it in your head? Or you knew the material but couldn't apply it?Yea, went to the review and counted what I missed, or gave up counting when the number fell below 60% lol.

You think you knew it? Or you know you knew it? So they weren't rote memorization questions?I think I knew it but I couldn't apply it, the questions were just so abstract and weird, they threw me off completely.

Were they huge clinical vignettes with lab values, etc. where you had to apply equations and stuff? They weren't rote memorization questions, they required you to synthesize and put together random crap, I really didn't expect the test would be like that.

What was hard about it? I've had basic exams before where it seemed like the lecturer's questions were more written for the specialist than the medical student. No equations, but yeah, massive clinical vignettes with labs and crap.
Sorry dude. Don't make any rash decisions before you get the score back at least. They weren't rote memorization questions, they required you to synthesize and put together random crap, I really didn't expect the test would be like that.
Is there any curving? No equations, but yeah, massive clinical vignettes with labs and crap.

What are DISH lists? It was a multiple choice exam, right? The questions required you to synthesize all kinds of random crap. Also, what frustrates me about Pulm is that you cannot reduce things to pathomnemonics, and the diff dish lists are so big that the answer could be anything I guess.

Did the class as a whole think they did bad?Oops, I meant diff diagnosis. And yeah it's multiples choice, but that wasn't really helpful.
I don't know what more I can say, I don't remember too many specifics (not that I could share them here anyways). They'll call me for my trial soon, and there I'll see the exam again.
Did the class as a whole think they did bad?
But you have no idea. It's a nasty exam, but they prob all did better than me, as usual.
But you have no idea.
Well take a break over the weekend. You'll have more than enough time to decide a course of action once you get your grade back.I know that I failed and there will be no curve.
I'm sorry Ark, I know you think I'm an enemy or whatever, but I'm sorry. I would encourage you to do some soul searching and reevaluate your approach to the material and be honest with your study methods. If you got into this medical school, then I know you are capable of handling it.

You have no idea what your grade is yet at. You have no idea what your residency prospects are. Stop letting things snowball. Stop talking about "shame and dishonor". This isn't the Disney movie Mulan.Right, but isn't the game basically over for me at this point? 2 failed (and remediated) classes mean that no residency program bar the ones at the bottom will ever deign to consider me.
I just feel so horrible. So many people put their faith in me: my friends, family, tutors, undergrad professors, etc, and all I've brought them is shame and dishonor.
I'm thinking about leaving medicine permanently FWIW. The only problem would be that a lib arts degree means scant employment opportunities, plus I would have to explain this to prospective employers lol. Oh, and the shame and dishonor intrinsic to my failures I suppose.
No equations, but yeah, massive clinical vignettes with labs and crap.
No, never. Not that it would help me anyways, I'm the worst student in the class.
