How do the hours vary between the different subspecialties in neurology? The experience I had on my rotation (at an academic institution) is as follows.

1) Neuro-ophth: 8-5, no weekends, controllable
2) Stroke: 7-6, at times uncontrollable
3) Neuro ICU 6-6, at times uncontrollable
4) Tumor: 8-5, controllable
5) General: 8-5, controllable

Any other thoughts?

Only that
1. Academic experience has no relevance to the "real world" of private practice, where hours can be hugely variable depending on practice setting and idividual motivation, and

2. Nobody outside an academic institution makes a living doing just neuro-ophth.
