Has anyone heard anything from Midwestern-CCP

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hello,
Wow..congrat to those that got accepted. For me, I feel so bad bad bad cuz I got put on the alternate list. That just mean more waiting and waiting. Anyways, does anyone know if they really pull from this list and how long do I have to wait usually? Please let me know.. Thanks

I am in the same boat being wait listed but do not give up. I know of pharmacists that got accepted with a 3.0 a week after school began. They were just called in and asked if they want to be in school out of no where. Think positively and see if you can apply to others while you wait.

They told me at the interview they receive around 2000 applications, interview 700 accept 400, enroll 200. I hope it works out for you all. Dont stress, be patient.

I could have been. Yeah one of the interviewers was from israel or something right? Your not the one that went last are you, cause then I'd feel bad for my earlier comment. =/

I'm actually the girl who answered every question last. Yeah I knew it put me at a disadvantage, but I felt no strong rush. Probably should have! haha. It's okay. I got accepted anyway. No worries. No offense taken.

Thanks for not being offended. I apologize. Im happy you got in! This goes to show, it doesnt matter if you go last, just be yourself and have a good answer!

Question - if you get accepted, how long do you have to commit to the school? What if you don't interview for another school until March or so - will you be able to accept in the Spring? How does that work?

question on the supp. If i Retook a class, should i add that to the pre-req classes? Also, should i just put minimum classes (number of hours) or all that can fit. Also WHAT WERE UR GUYS STATS?!?! HOW EARLY DID U APPLY? HOW FAST DID U HEAR FROM THEM (DAYS/WEEKS wise)? THANKS IN ADVANCE

I had a month to accept, but I don't know if this is the same for everyone else. I had heard that some people last year only had two weeks to make a decision -- maybe it was b/c it was later in the cycle? Anyway, you basically have to see where your priorities lie. Do you want to secure your seat at a pharmacy school you might not want to go to or would you rather wait it out and risk not getting in anywhere at all by giving up your seat?

In my situation, I'd rather go to a CA school b/c that's where I live, but I probably won't hear anything from them for a long while so I'm going to make my deposit at Midwestern for now. But if I happen to get an interview at a CA school, I'll go -- and if they accept me, I'll definitely sacrifice my $1000 deposit to attend. That's just where my priorities lie. My decision to go with Midwestern is made a little easier, however, since my sister is already a student there and I already know it's a good program.

My portal said I was accepted October 29th and said my deposit was due November 23rd.

I dont remember how the supplemental layout is, but I would just put the grade more recent class you retook. I applied mid August and got invited to interview September 18th, interviewed October 9th, accepted October 29th.

Yeah, that's what I did. Just put the more recent score.

I e-submitted 8/15, finished my supps 8/27, got my interview email 9/11 and interviewed on 9/30. 10/27 I got a very awesome phone call and I was accepted. Btw, for the people who found out his/her acceptance via the portal, did you get your phone calls yet?

do you lose your whole deposit if you chose to decline later?

I was on the executive board of three UIC organizations. Volunteered in the ER, shadowed an oncology/hematology specialist, worked as a pharmacy technician for an independent pharmacy, about 6 months of independent research. My TA who was also my mentor/supervisor during the research wrote me a great letter of recommendation. The professor I did research for also instructed a course in homeostasis, which I took and received an A in, so she also wrote me a fantastic recommendation. I also got two recommendations from the owners/pharmacists of the store I work for.

I forgot to add information on the interview. It went very well. I was calm since a buddy of mine happened to be interviewing the same day, as well as sit next to me during the group interview. He was coincidentally placed in the same group as me. We had 2 interviewers and 5 interviewees. They asked a series of questions. After asking a question, they allowed us to volunteer to answer first. Whoever raised their hand first, answered first.

The interview feedback section would really help you with the type of questions they might ask you. Just remember to speak as if you didn't rehearse it.

Impressive. If your applying to UIC, I am pretty sure you will get in.

I'm kind of self-conscious of giving that kind of info, esp. to people I'm not close to. But suffice it to say, mine are not nearly as stellar as Doc's. What I will share is that I've had lots of experience working in a pharmacy, and I'm super positive that's one of the reasons I got in. I think Midwestern really looks favorably upon experience

Im really self-conscious about my stats too, but Im so open about it because I was motivated and encouraged by students on these forums who had low stats and shared them with everyone. All I wanna do is encourage those who might not think they have a chance, because really, you do.

I'm at Saint Xavier University. It's probably only about 30-45 minutes away form Midwestern CCP. I'm hoping to get in there as it is my number one choice, as well as my girlfriends top choice for PT school. My stats seem like they should hold up as long as I don't drastically mess up the interview.

Just out of curiosity, when did you turn in your pharmcas app to midwestern? I turned in my supp app on saturday but I haven't heard back. I turned in my pharm cas app in the middle of october.

In my opinion your stats will hold up just fine. Also, your from the area so mention something about the community during the interview. I received good feedback from the interviewers when I told them I have worked for a small community independent pharmacy.

My PharmCAS was mailed out on October 19th. I believe I e-submitted it sometime in the middle of September. I submitted the supplemental on November 2nd, and had the email for the interview the morning of November 5th. I guess they really want me, haha.

For those that are accepted, will you be living in on-campus housing or looking for an apartment? Im thinking about living on campus to meet people and adjust properly to the school. What do you guys think?

I plan on living on campus with my girlfriend in one of the apartments they offer. That's assuming everything goes as planned and I get in and she gets accepted into their PT program. Her application isn't that great though, so I'm worried this plan may change.

I plan to live on campus! Makes it easier to meet our peers and it's also a bit more convenient.
I don't feel like shoveling snow off my driveway anytime soon.

I didnt know that! Thats awesome! I love free parking. lol

Indeed. During my interview I stayed with my sister's friend who's also pharmacy (my sister was in Baltimore for 4th year). So I was able to stay in the dorms for a night and she told me about the free parking. I thought the dorms were pretty nice for being dorms since you get your own room (most are single rooms) although you share a bathroom with one other room next to you. I guess it's better than sharing one bathroom with the whole floor!

Decided to finally put my money down ... I like the school, the campus is great and their system sounded pretty solid. Don't like the cold weather but for the profession I'll grit my teeth ...

Oh, come on. I've lived in Chicago suburbs all my life. It isn't THAT cold. Everyone in the warmer states are just spoiled.

Yeah ... we are lol ... can't blame me but I'll get used to it. It will be a good reason to get out of the warm muggy weather.

The sooner you interview the better chance of receiving an acceptance! Good luck!

how long after you interviewed did you get an acceptance? If I interview dec 11th do you think they will get back to me before mid jan?
